After having a lot of fun using Tyrant185's HBK sets, and really being amazed at the work that was done on the entrance attires, I decided to try my hand at it. I have to give big credit to Tyrant185 on this, not only for inspiring me to try making decent paints myself, but for helping me figure out how to place the entrance attires without having awkward clothing articles showing. I also used Tyrant's face morph formula, as it's the best one I've seen next to TheGameDX. This is literally my very first attempt with the paint tool, and for all practical purposes my first serious attempt at a CAW. I think it turned out pretty well.

As of right now, I'm not planning on releasing this, but if enough people like it and push me to build more attires, I might release. I'm especially interested in the entrance attires worn from 1994-1998, as I always thought that was a huge part of his character and it just doesn't feel like Shawn Michaels without them.

Enough rambling. My first attire is the one worn at In Your house 17: Ground Zero against The undertaker September 1997. This is probably my favorite HBK attire, so it's why I started with this one.

I know, I know, post the damn CAW already!:

*note: again, credit goes to Tyrant185 for the face morph. There are very minor adjustments to it, but essentially it is his. I take no credit for it.*

I'm pretty close to calling this one quits. I think the vest design is a 95% match with the real thing.

Overall, I'm real pleased with how this one turned out. I had to get creative to fit everything in 64 layers. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it, since I had to paint the zebra design itself. The default zebra tights are way too thin to accurately match what he wore. I might need to make the black zebra design a little bit wider. It still strikes me as 2 or 3 pixels too thin.

Things I can't do anything about: the piece of fabric on the stomach for the entrance attire. I can't get it any closer to flesh than what it is. It's barely noticeable, though.

I can't put the hearts on the boots. I'm maxed at 64 layers again. I think the entrance attire is well worth that sacrifice. I hope you'll agree.

*Note: the color is being thrown off a bit by crap camera reflection.*

This one was the hardest one to pull off so far. It was very hard to scale the paints properly. I would draw very rough shapes, go into edit and scale it, then go back to paint and adjust it until I could get the front, back, and arms to fit as close as possible. That probably took over an hour in itself before I even started drawing in the details on the jacket! The one thing I wish I could do is add the sparkle effect. As you see in the reference pics, those circle and square shapes are mirrors. I tried to replicate this through the random colored shapes on the jacket and chaps. It's fairly close, but I'm not completely sold on it yet.

Also, I might change the length of his hair on this one. His hair was super long in 1996.

I'm not too happy with the entrance attire. He looks like a referree/bumblebee. I don't really know how to fix it, though.

So, yeah, I don't know if I'm going to bother making another set. This experiment was to see if I could make good attires or not to prepare for SvR 2011, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I don't see the point in doing any more sets for 2010. Also, if you want to download this on XBL, let me know and I'll upload it if enough people are interested.

Thanks for the replies. I finally got back home tonight, and posted 2 more pics. One close up of the front of the vest and then an overall front shot of the ring gear.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to do King of the Ring 1997 next. It's an attire that is rarely done, if ever.

I'm off for the next two days, so I should be able to get it done. Looks like he vest will only take three draws. The front, back, and arms. I'm pretty much limited to three draws for the vest before I max out at 10 paints, so if any entrance attire looks like it can be done in three, I'll probably do it.

As for the DX and WM 14 attires, I love both of them, and will probably get around to doing them eventually, but Tyrant185 and TheGameDX did a great job on their DX and WM 14 entrance attires already. Granted, the entrance attires can definitely bee improved on, and that's part of my focus on this project, but I want to get a 4 attire set done that can't really be found on anybody else's set, and then I'll probably move to some of my other personal favorites.

Yeah, between Tyrant185 and TheGameDX, they have most of the major attires covered. However, I have almost every single HBK match on my hard drive from 1995-1998, including all the Raw matches. He wore a lot of different tights, many of them similar, but with slight changes. He had a lot of different vests and chaps combos that he only wore once or twice as far as TV matches go.

BTW, I'm almost finished with the entrance attire for the King of the Ring. It looks pretty good I think. I have to do some real work at home for a few hours, so I'll probably have it done by tonight. I also completely redid the heart draw for the current attire. I didn't like the Z pattern heart for it, because after studying the Ground Zero PPV more, only one of the hearts on his tights had the z pattern, and the rest were more of a random pattern. I also changed up the entrance attire color. It is more accurate now. Finally, I changed the arm tattoo. It is more accurate now. I'll post new pics tonight of both after I finish the KoR attire.

Do people read? He didn't make the face.

Anyway, I love this project, definitely looking forward to the updates. I love your desire for absolute accuracy. Keep it up.

Just a suggestion or two. Looking at the ref pics you provided, I think the blue on the chaps should be a little taller, it's almost at his waist in the pics. And, maybe throw in some darker and lighter shades of blue pixels into the jacket/chaps to give them that sparkle effect?

Update for KoR is up.

Yeah, I'm still tinkering with the jacket and chaps design. I like your idea of adding in some different colors. It can definitely be improved. The length on the front is pretty accurate. It's hard to tell from blurry screen caps, but it does angle pretty sttep in the front like that.

Fantastic job on the entrance gear and thanks for the credit :).

I struggled with the KOTR 97 one due to layer space (I'd try and remake it if I still had that version) but you've absolutely nailed it. I love the other one as well. One suggestion I have is to make the Zebra pattern a bit thicker on the KOTR attire but great work so far.

Thanks for the support, everybody. Yep, that's what I'm about to start on. Once that's done I can pretty much lock in the KoR attire as a final.

As for the WM 19 attire, Tyrant185 pretty much did a perfect job on it already:

http://caws.ws/forum/topic/358577-tyrant185s-hbk-final-version-uploaded-to-live/page__p__7053142__hl__tyrant185__fromsearch__1&#entry7053142

I want the first 4 attires to be those that haven't really been done yet. these are the PPVs I'll probably do, in no particular order:

IYH 6 (this one's next, and it's going to be hard as hell to do)
IYH 19: DX attire,
WM 14
WM 19
WM 12
WM 11
Mind Games
One Night Only
Survivor Series 97
Royal Rumble 96 (Heartbreak and triumph cover)
Royal Rumble 95
IYH 2 (vs Jeff Jarrett)
IYH 3 (Dudes With Attitudes tights, only worn once or twice)

I want to get the hardest ones out of the way first. For a lot of the 1994-1995 ones, I can actually use one of the vests and paint tool over that, instead of having to shape the vest in paint tool. Eventually, after I've done most of that, I'll move on to doing some fictional HBK attires similar to the 1995-1998 ones

I think he's going for attires before Micheals back injury. Looking great on the update! How did you do the boots? I could NEVER figure it out!
Well, originally I paint tooled it to be a replica of the real thing. The problem is, I simply didn't have enough layers to work with. Both attires are at 64 layers. I wish I could have kept it, because it looked good, but I had to sacrifice. I put the WrestleMania text logo on each boot instead. Tyrant did that with a few of his attires that required a lot of layers on the entrance gear, and it's good enough to not be a distraction, so that's what I went with.

I doubt they'll give us more than 64 layers for next year. I'm curous to see how it's going to be. Maybe they'll be smart and do a good Shawn Michaels 90's version (not that LoWM bullcrap). For all we know, they won't even have his music and titantron in for next year. That would suck.

I honestly think HBK will appear as a Legend in the next SmackDown vs. RAW games. This exactly happened with The Rock. When he stopped appearing in the games as a normal wrestler, he was chosen to be one of the Legends.

ANyway, back on topic. These attires are absolutely amazing. The only flaw I see is the blue on the Ground Zero entrance attire. It needs to be a bit darker.

Definitely looking forward to the other attires. Hopesully you can get them as accurate as these.

I made the zebra pattern thicker. I think the tights are just about perfect now.

You have no idea how annoying it was to try to line everything up perfectly. It wouldn't be a problem if I could do just one more paint to make the back smoother as it gets wider.

Basically three parts: front, back, and arms. For the Ground Zero, the front is two paints, and everything on the back, arms, and legs is one paint. That's what made lining the back up for Ground Zero so retarded.

I'm limited to three paints for the entrance attire. I took up a lot of paints on the "Heartbreak Kid" script logo. I painted them separate, as in "Heart" "Break" "K" "id". The reasoning behind this was when I tried to stuff Heartbreak in one paint, it would cut off too much of the "t" or the "b, and squinching everything in tight broke up too much of the colored outline of the text, and it just didn't look right. So instead of getting it done in 2 paints, it took 4. Add in the two different types of hearts (the main one, then the one for the "HBK" script, and the arm tattoo, that only leaves three slots until you hit the 10 paint max. I really hope they change this for next year, but I doubt it.

I got lucky on the KotR vest. It's perfectly designed for the front, back, and arm. The Ground Zero one was actually more difficult, because it angles inward at the chest, then back out with sharp angles at the bottom. There was no way to draw the front in one paint. So far, I've used one of the vest paints for the chaps, and I've gotten lucky on both of them looking good.

Anyway, I'm finally happy with the Ground Zero one. Please, if anybody sees something that strikes you as odd, let me know. Hopefully not though, so I can move onto my next attire, LOL.

I'm not sure if I can do anything about that. If I widen out the paint, the pattern rolls over onto the skin. I've tried rotating it in various ways. It also snaps to the next location when you move it over far enough, which is completely stupid, and makes it pretty much impossible to do it without making another paint, which I can't do.

Well, when I made him, I did use paint for his gloves and it looked really good, better than I expected. I'm not sure how much it bothers you to have the pattern slightly go on the skin, but I didn't bother me. Trust me, it's well worth it. :)
