The Official Classic WCW, WWF, and ECW Thread

So we all know something about classic 70's,80's, and 90's wrestling so lets discuss it.

Okay I'll start let's talk about your favorite classic PPV or Event, Supercard etc. And please describe why.

I'll start my favorite is Wrestlemania X-7

Chris Jericho v. William Regal opened the event for the IC Belt the match was a good technical match looking back I wish Regal would have won but Jericho was so over at the time, and now he is, that it's an obvious win. Overall a great win and a good opening match in my opininion.

The triple threat Hardcore match was just sweet. One of my favorite parts was the big guys fighting in the crowd. And the backstage brawls were a nice change. I like everything in that match from the scoop slam onto the wood from Show to Kane to and him getting thrown through the door.

Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit there was no stipulation it was for no titles. It was just a wonderfully match. When I saw this match the first time I didn't appreciate it then after watching the DVD several times I realized how great it is.

The Triple Threat TLC II match. It is my third favorite match of all time. Now before people say "Off it's cause your a Hardy fan" Thats not why. It's because I am thrilled with every spot in this match the match is just absolute gold. Hardy's Swanton. When people crashed from a ladder through 4 tables. The spear off the ladder and just everything.

The Gimmick Battle Royal was a good trip down history role.

The Undertaker and HHH had a good match. Only thing I don't like is how the ref was done for like 6 minutes but it set up a great 6 minutes  And the ending was very good and so was the sledgehammer shot.

The main event and one of the biggest twists in WWF/WWE history McMahon and Austin joining forces. But the match was just as good as the others but the best one they did imo :XD: The ending though wasn't my favorite with just chairshots and then the win.

So... Discuss.

not to get anal, but you start the thread talking about how we should discuss wrestling from the 70's-90's, but then the ppv you mention is from 2001.

anyway, i think we should have a whole board for for classic wrestling, but for now, i'll settle for this thread.

i'm at work right now, but when i get home, i'll post some classic vids.

My favourite stuff of the 90s was the original DX.
Only being 18 i didn't watch an awful lot their first run, as i got into watching WWF in 1999. However since then i've read books, watched dvds, and scoured the internet watching and getting in on as much stuff as I could. The stories about how hated Hunter and Shawn were backstage, having hand signals incase matches turned into shoot fights *cough* Shamrock *cough*, and having to leave arenas because they were causing fans riot. Then going from that to being absolutely adored by them in a few months time, they were just absoolutely fascinating to me.

Anyone have any videos of Sting/Flair from 1990 at GAB? Can't find it on YT.

That match was amazing.

This match had an effect on me, The way this match is just done, I think is the first time I clearly got what a "match telling a story" means.

The 90's was the greatest "era" in pro wrestling history in my opinion. There was so much great talent between WWF, WCW and ECW back then it wasn't even funny.

For example, WWF in the early 90's had guys like Hogan, Warrior, Savage, Dibiase, Bret, Piper, Bulldog and Mr. Perfect. Moving on to the mid-late 90's guys like HBK, Austin, Rock, Undertaker, Kane, Foley, Owen Hart and Triple H arrive on the scene.

Over in WCW once the Monday Night Wars pick up guys like Hogan, Savage and Bret jump ship and join an already great roster with the likes of Flair, Goldberg, Sting, Steamboat, Luger, Steiner Brothers, Hall, Nash and along with the cruiserweights like Rey, Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, Dean Malenko etc.

Plus you had ECW which was boasting a great number of stars like Taz, RVD, The Dudleys, Storm, Candido, Jerry Lynn, Tanaka, Awesome, Raven, Dreamer and Shane Douglas. Combine that immense number of talent along with the awesome booking the "big three" had back then with McMahon, Bischoff and Heyman and it made for unbelievably good TV.

I think the 90's also had the greatest "WrestleMania monents". Hogan and Warriors epic clash in 90' at WM6 for the WWF & IC Titles, Shawn Michaels splash off the ladder to Razor Ramon in 94' at WM10, HBK realizing his boyhood dream and capturing the WWF title in the 60 Minute Iron Man match in 96', Austin passing out in a pool of his own blood while in Bret Harts Sharpshooter at WM13 in 97', One year later HBK passing the torch to Austin and the beginning of the "Austin Era". It's moments like these that made me a wrestling fan.

I know it was a long read and I was rambling on at times but I'm feeling nolstagic about my childhood lol.

I hadn't realized how young the majority of CAWs users are...Anywho, just an example of what I feel was one of the greatest feuds to ever be featured in pro wrestling.

The actual PPV may not have been the best, but IMO, this is the best, most coolest, and most awesomest PPV intro of all time:

and now I'll give you someone hardly anyone knows of, but was a great heel... because his gimmick was being a South African racist.
