  1. I doubt anybody has heard of him, but this Liverpool based English singer used to be in a band called the Wild Swans, who had well regarded songs like "Bible Dreams" and "Young Manhood" (none of which charted). And I personally always thought he was more talented than the likes of Julian Cope, who he briefly played with in the Teardrop Explodes as their organist. He was also in a band called Care, with the lead singer from the Lightning Seeds. Although it was more so a one-man act to begin with, meaning it was a moniker. It was with this group that Simpson achieved his highest charting single called "Flaming Sword" with Ian Broudie (previously of Original Mirrors) on guitar. I used to have the "7 of it. To be honest, I thought the 80's had a lot of great new wave groups that sadly got overlooked because of all the bland, cheesy pop music that was typical of the era. However, I do like synthpop acts such as OMD, Soft Cell, ABC, and Depeche Mode.
