About Me
In recent memory, I've had several of my posts deleted, and seen several threads of various authors locked without explanation. Now, were reasons given for these actions, I would not mind so much. However, the simple fact is that there is no requirement for moderators to explain their actions. This is counter-productive to their jobs, which is to enforce the rules. It is a gross failure of logic to punish people for breaking the rules and then not explain what rules were broken to prevent it from happening again. I'm not requesting any moderators step down, any rules be changed, or anything that is unreasonable to request of the moderating staff of a website.
The only thing I request is that moderators be required to post a brief summary of why they took the actions they did in the thread, so that the users may be better able to understand how conclusions were reached. It is not unreasonable by any stretch to ask this, since if a moderator is able to take time out of their day to lock or delete something, then thirty seconds more help keep it from happening again shouldn't be too terrible of a burden. In the case of threads that are offensive enough to require deletion, a PM to the author would be appropriate.
To my knowledge, this thread violates no rules and does not warrant being locked. It is a legitimate concern, does not flame any members, has room for reasonable discussion, and could not in any definition by called spam. Any members who agree are welcome to have their names added to the thread on request.
