  1. Dude I didnt know about that Godzilla trailer til yesterday morning that shit owns dude
  2. I watched Rock n Roll High School for the first time over the weekend. What a fun movie. Gotta love Joe Dante. And the concept of Clint Howard coaching the quarerback on sex is such delightful absurdity. Also I cant see that movie working with any band other than the Ramones. The movie totally just reflects the same frantic energy the Ramones had. It stands on its own by having nonstop, home run gags, but also just works perfectly as a Ramones vehicle. Also watched the Burbs for the first time, another Joe Dante one. Some really golden moments, but I think those moments are better than the sum of its parts. Good social satire on normie culture for the most part, but the ending seemed to cheapen it a little.
  3. Us was fantastic. Im really happy a movie like this can come out in theaters and, as it seems, is on track to being really successful. I just appreciate something that lets you reach conclusions on your own. Also I never saw Get Out, but Jordan Peele has such an eye for striking visuals. I could see so many of the images in this go on to be iconic if this movie does well. Its insane the guy I used to watch on Mad TV as a kid is writing and directing bangers like this. Also Lupita is gives a *censored*ing performance in this one, shes a superstar.
  4. I saw Pink Flamingos for the first time on a first date weirdly enough. We watched Repo Man, which I had already seen and loved before that, and I guess after that they figured I was down enough to watch Pink Flamingos with. I think they expected me to be more shocked, but Pink Flamingos is such a famous movie that I already kind of knew all the major scenes through osmosis. Loved it immediately though. Just love those long takes from Waters early stuff where everybody is talking loud and talking over eachother. So many classic lines of dialogue I love from Pink Flamingos. I prefer Female Trouble because it retains that stuff I like while also just being noticeable step up in craft from Pink Flamingos.
  5. Id actually never seen Hausu and sort of just bought it cause I knew Id love it from what Id heard about it. And I absolutely did. Female Trouble is probably my favorite of the John Waters movies Ive seen so psyched to have that. Very psyched to have True Stories cause for the past few years Ive just had a DVD that was in the wrong aspect ratio.
  6. Got Multiple Maniacs, Female Trouble, Hausu, True Stories, and Election on Blu Ray from the 50% off Criterion flash sale in the mail today.
  7. Alita Battle Angel was fun. Really shit the bed with pacing in the last 20 minutes, but mostly just a solid action movie. I cant remember an action movie with so much CGI *censored*ery that I was actually invested in. Some cool fight scenes and the Motorball set piece in the last act was legitimarely thrilling. Kind of glad I saw it in the theater.
  8. Its so mediocre. Like its nice to hear Queen music. I understand playing with historical accuracy to make a three act story, but music biopics all do the same thing. Walk Hard still remains relevant towards music biopics that came out 10 years after it released. It in no way deserves a nomination for best picture. Its also directed by a pedophile, so ya know, like Id get if said pedophile was an amazing director, but really Bryan Singer has always just sort of been a competent director. I have no idea how he earned the power he does in Hollywood. He must have had the right people at the pool parties for him to be having serious accusations in the air for 20 years now and not having been punished at all.
  9. Tell me that does not extend to the first two Terminator movies - they are classics. I really like the first two Terminator movies, Im just not in love with them the way most people are.
  10. Ill probably just watch Alita because James Cameron is involved. I dont even like James Cameron much I just find him interesting.
  11. No Marvel dudes. Gotta keep it video game related. My prediction is there will be at least one thats a highly requested Nintendo character that people have been asking for for years. That will be the fan service one and I predict the rest will be totally out of left field picks.
  12. I liked the idea of starting with 8 in concept Im just not loving it in process. Still having fun with the game obviously. Much better than the last two Smash games in terms of overall feel. Incineroar is literally just Brock Lesnar if he was a furry and I love it.
  13. Ngl unlocking 60+ characters is a little tedious. Still have about 10 characters left to get. Kinda wish it just had some kind of unlock all feature like the WWE games had. Kind of surprised at the difficulty of some of the challenger fights. Ive never lost to challengers before this game. Some have taken me 3-4 tries before I get them beat finally. Its gonna be really satisfying once I have them all though. Its an insane roster size.
  14. I think both of them are great. John C. Reilly has a lot more range and is maybe my favorite actor currently, but most Will Ferrell movies Ive seen hes been hilarious in. I mean I even liked Anchorman 2, which for some reason is a hot take I guess.
  15. I mean thats why I just dont see the point. I mean I dont see the point in doing any of these live action remakes because the appeal of most of movies of the Disney canon were the beauty and fluidity of the animation and not so much the pretty basic plots or characters. All these live action ones leave you with is a less visually interesting way of telling the same story. So its just kind of a novelty thing for those curious to see what itd look like, which, for me, Im able to derive all the novelty I need just from the trailer. Obviously I know theyre just doing it for money before anybody gets on my ass for that.
  16. Watched Election for the first time today. So *censored*ing funny.
  17. Detective Pikachu looks like the stupidest *censored*ing movie ever I'm totally sold.
  18. For me its not an issue because they were interesting enough out of the suits mostly. Im not saying everything worked but Id say enough to get by without me checking my watch. It wasnt like Godzilla where the human element as well as monster fights were lacking for a large chunk of the movie. I have no particular attachment to the series though. I mean I loved it as a little kid and had tons of the toys, but even by age 7 I realized the show kind of sucked.
  19. I didnt mind cause the characters were surprisingly well written for this sort of thing. Particularily Billy and Jason. I mean I doubt its anything Ill rewatch any time soon, but I was expecting like dogshit and what I got was a pretty solid superhero movie.
  20. I watched that 2017 Power Rangers movie cause I saw it was on Amazon Prime and I thought why not? Really wasnt that bad. Was kind of surprised how good the performances were. Probably better than its source material in that regard. I think it embraced how silly its concept was just enough. I dont think its great or anything but if you have nothing to do and want to put on something you can turn your brain off too, its a better choice than a Tranformers movie or something.
  21. The only good parts of that movie are the parts with Indy and Mutt. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is frustrating because at times it feels just like classic Indiana Jones, but most of the time its just a mess.
  22. I think Mutt was a good character and was actually one of the better parts of that movie, but he wouldnt be a good successor.
