Hall of Famer

Hall of Famer (9/10)

  1. The best thing on this show so far was that short interview with Dustin Rhodes. The guy can promo anything.
  2. Fantastic ending to an eventful RAW. Rock is absolutely despicable.
  3. The Gunther/Sami (w/Gable) build keeps getting intriguing each week. I’m digging this. Damn, that rain added drama to the segment. Whoa. Cody cut opened.
  4. Ooooh, this is good! Yeah! Get your bitch ass in the ring! Punk got Drew good there! Oh shit! He can count! Hell yeah! Make these two interesting! *Censored*, that was great. Punk was on fire. That whole segment actually felt like a genuine interaction between people rather than scripted entertainment.
  5. Rehashing the Rey/Dom feud? Hmm… I dunno about that… Ooh, I liked how they presented the LA/AJ segment. No invisible cameras. The cameras had a purpose being there. Nice improvement.
  6. I barely paid attention to the match because it wasn’t a match or feud I was interested in and what I did see (which may have included this spot) I didn’t like. A lot of these No DQ weapon matches are contrived, boring spot fests with the same spots we’ve all seen before. It doesn’t matter which promotion it is. They both do it.
  7. Wish the US title match was a singles with Logan/Orton. Ah well. The other two are decent additions.
  8. Hmm. Gee, I dunno… Gunther, Cody, Punk, LA Knight, Logan Paul, Roman, Rock, Drew, Bron, Ilja, Imperium, Sami Zayn, Orton, Aldis, Pearce, Joe, MJF, FTR — all these guys I constantly rave about. You can easily observe that by going through a few pages of each of the discussion topics. There’s also another dozen or so that I like to some degree beyond the ones I listed.
  9. I thought it was a very weak debut, especially considering the marketing for the event revolved around Mercedes. Her promo was a generic, uninspired babyface return promo that failed to get me excited for what she does next. Her delivery also lacked conviction and flair.
  10. They’re a stale act who seem to be content with where they’re at.
  11. Idk if I would compare AEW to a cult movie. lol They’re not exactly an indie fed with an underground following. They’re a large promotion funded by a billionaire that has multiple shows televised around the whole world. They’re loaded with cash which is probably the main reason why Okada chose go with them anyway. They made the bigger offer. It also helps that he’ll work less too and the environment will be much more familiar to him, so I wouldn’t blame him for choosing AEW. I’d say both Styles and Nakamura have had pretty respectable WWE careers. Neither were “the guy” but that’s ok, you don’t have to be “the guy” to have a nice, fulfilling career.
  12. Yeah, it’s very tacky. I’ve never been a fan sponsorships being placed all over the ring.
  13. I feel if Okada went to WWE he would have had a greater opportunity at becoming a bigger star in the US. In AEW, his stature will effectively stay the same. I also think WWE would have given him fresher and more interesting match-ups.
  14. Meltzer says it’s not that high. It’s a substantial number but not that number.
