NEW YORK and STAMFORD, Conn. WWE and USA Network today announced an agreement in principle to air WWEs weekly Wednesday night show, NXT, live on USA Network at 8/7 C starting Sept. 18.

Following NXTs growth in popularity, the new two-hour weekly show will expand its reach on USA Network, the leader in cable entertainment, while staying in its Wednesday night timeslot that it has held since 2015.

The move to USA Network provides an opportunity to deepen our relationship with NBCUniversal and further build the NXT brand, said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & CEO. Over the long term, our goal is to develop a following that can be monetized to the same level as our flagship programs, Raw and SmackDown.

USA Network and WWE have one of the longest and most successful partnerships in television history, said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks USA and SYFY. As the No. 1 cable entertainment network, were excited to add NXT to our weekly lineup alongside powerhouse flagship Raw and to bring a new generation of Superstars to a wide audience.

NXT launched in 2010 and has risen to become WWEs third global brand alongside Raw and SmackDown, hosting nearly 200 live events around the world each year. Airing on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m., NXT has been WWE Networks No. 1 weekly series.

NXT offers a unique blend of authentic in-ring action with exciting and entertaining storylines that feature WWEs hottest up-and-coming Superstars, including Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Shayna Baszler, Johnny Gargano, Matt Riddle, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, Candice LeRae, Tommaso Ciampa, Kyle OReilly and Bobby Fish. The brands diverse roster consists of elite athletes from the NFL, collegiate and amateur sports, MMA, competitive bodybuilding and international sports such as rugby, kushti and kabaddi. It is also the birthplace to 80 percent of the current Raw and SmackDown rosters, including Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Bray Wyatt and Baron Corbin.

The series will continue to emanate from Full Sail University in Orlando as part of WWEs production partnership with the preeminent entertainment, media, arts and technology institution.

So...the show that is meant to prepare green wrestlers for a main roster debut is now going to be a live show instead? Kinda weird. But...what do I know? Hopefully there aren't any major issues with people messing up their segments.

Also...It actually heightens the pressure on them, because now it's on national TV and the TakeOvers have been hyped up as being the best wrestling shows in the US.

Theres great fear on the internet that things will be changing in NXT now that the black and yellow brand has landed a TV deal but were told the fear is unwarranted.

Sources tell us despite speculation, the current plan is for NXT to remain as the same show its been for years and that moving to USA Network was only done to get more eyes on the product.

Bottom line, if youre worried about losing the workrate heavy product thats been spearheaded by Triple H for years dont be.

As we previously reported, NXT will begin airing live on USA for two hours starting next month.

We can only hope this is true.

There's zero chance that it could remain the 'same' show if it's going to a live, two-hour format.

That very much just comes off as a thing for corporate to say...

I mean...the show can still be good. It doesn't have to be a failure, and it doesn't have to warrant fear or concern. But, I definitely don't expect it to be "the same show". Not sure how they could even say that with a straight face. Makes no sense. It will be twice as long, with commercials that will affect the pace of the action, and no ability to edit out mistakes. Fundamentally not the same.

Well it's good for the talent as they'll get bigger exposure and the wwe network will have the new episodes on demand on thursday nights.

My only worry is Vince getting involved and how much

Same, honestly... and people on other boards were telling me I'm crazy for thinking that.

Debating keeping the network too because there are other ways to watch PPVs, although its not as efficient.

Okay so I just read that itll be available on the network the next day. Can they do this for RAW & SD now? As I said theres other ways to watch shows but would be cool on the official app.

Also debating it now, wouldn't be surprised to see Network subscriptions drop despite NXT being available the next day. I assume NXT and PPVs are/were the main selling points for a lot of the noncasual audience and there's still a lot of people (like me) who wouldn't wanna miss NXT live so they'll find "other ways" instead of waiting for the next day, and who's to say they won't just start doing that with PPVs as well

WWE needs something big to fill the void of NXT on the network. Perhaps a permanent move for EVOLVE on the network with lower card/unused NXT talent being heavily featured? Or they're gonna have to step it tf up with NXT UK. Who knows, but they need something to avoid looking like HBO Go/Now after GOT ended lmao

I feel like WWE is always up to some shit. This move kinda proves that. Like...they were truly never worried about AEW at all. They just shifted gears from doing everything half-assed, to actually trying...and here we are. So, yeah...they're probably replacing NXT with Progress or Evolve, or something. Or they'll just promote NXT UK a lot more, maybe.
