Senex Beast
When it comes to creating/customizing characters in games, do you create yourself or just what ever comes to mind? I'm curious because I usually create myself or a badass/cool latino looking guy and sometimes I go non human, depending on the game and amount of character slots
Spamming Nooblet
I usually create characters from other video games in the WWE and Soul Calibur games. I never actually attempted to create myself though. I don't remember how many years ago it was but, I did create a goofy parody CAW of my little cousin solely to piss him off in HCTP. Lol he's still never forgiven me for that, that's how bad it looked.
LEGION
Usually never myself, unless it's a click adventure and even then it's rare to be myself. I usually role-play characters a certain way, in order to maximize replayability and have different playthroughs each time. Best example...Fallout 4. Currently playing as two characters. One is a skeptical women, who has taken shelter at a Red-Rocket gas station and only trusts herself and the people honest to her. In her case these are her dogs, who are loyal by defaullt, and McCready, who is only with her, because she is paying for his services. Her hideout is plastered with security measures. Turrets, walls, powerarmor. All for her alone and she only works for her own benefit. The other character is a guy who loves technology. Working mostly with futuristic weapons, he made his way through the world looking for technology and a place to settle down. He came across a fully functioning robot, Ada, on his way through Boston and helped her to get her revenge. Afterwards he built his labortory at an abandond harbor, central on the map, where he is building his robots and starting to re-build the Commonwealth, although he has only found a few friends along the way. Creating and playing characters this way, is usually what I do. So yeah. Never myself. And I'm not even going to start mentioning my Wrestling CAWs...There are over 400 of them and only ~three of them are based on me
Creepy Bro
Depends on the game, and my mood at the time of character creation. Red Dead Online/GTA Online - created an outlaw/thug that somewhat resembles me, only I added facial scarring on my RDO outlaw - then gave him a name using the first letter from my first & last name. WWE/sports games - usually create a juiced up version of myself, and go from there Fallout games - same as RDO and GTAO
High Flying Maniac
A while back I created a custom character in Dragon Age Inquisition that just really stuck with me and now he's my go-to custom main character for any game basically. As for other custom characters I typically just play around with the options until I get a sense of what I want. More often than not though my created characters are based on real people or characters from other games. I'll usually try to create someone based on Dragon Age characters and/or wrestlers if I don't go fully custom. Very rarely do I create someone based on myself. Spamming Nooblet
Actually I just remembered that I did create myself before. I made my GTAV character to look like me. I'm pretty sure that was the only game I made myself in.
Senex Beast
I forgot to mention that when I can't create myself then I just do one that resembles me. Like an improved version of me that fits the game. Not sure if that counts as creating myself as well. You all have good replies. I've done other characters from other things or inspired by as well once in a while
Generations
When it comes to games that have a single main character, I usually create myself...mostly because a lot of creation modes are limited in what they can actually do...and since I have a large beard, creating a character with a large beard is straight-forward and helps hide the facial features themselves. I can take the default guy, tweak a handful of things, give him the same hair and beard that I have, and it already looks pretty accurate.
God of Lightning
Mainly depends on the game. If the game has multiple character slots, I'll usually have my one avatar (which may or may not actually resemble me to any degree), a few other original characters and a bunch of characters from anime/manga/games/whatever. My favorite so far are WWE, Soul Calibur, and Koikatu I mostly enjoy creating characters from other properties because I enjoy the challenge of trying to make those characters with the tools the different games give me. Though games like Xenoverse, and especially Jump Force are too limited to the point it's hard or completely impossible to create a lot of stuff. Senex Beast
I used to download and make characters in wwe games from comics, films and games but my main guy has always been myself since Day of Reckoning 2 to any wrestling game. I was going to redo my character on GTA V and make a Terminator that looks like Arnold's as I found videos on how to do it but I kept it the same, which resembles me. I've seen Kane and Undertakers on DC Universe Online and thought that was cool. Some games I like doing characters that fit the world like in Elder Scrolls Online since Classes and Races are specific
Saturi
No matter the game, I always create custom characters when it is possible. I'm basing the gender and look depending on the game, the class and the race (human or no human). Also created characters for indie games in the past as also different races. Same goes with monsters, places, among other things.
Monkey D. Jiggy
Never forget the time when I created a character for Deltarune, only for the game telling me to suck it by deleting said character in favor of the main one. Not a bug BTW, an actual game-mechanic.
Motown Saint
I usually create myself and my siblings, and I've been doing that since the No Mercy days. Heck, I remember being blown away when I found out you could have custom charaters in Tony Hawks' Pro Skater 2.
