Rachelle Lowen and Michelle McCool said something about her being "in a dark place."

On a related note, I saw the story about what happened to her in Kuwait, and it was sickening to read. I can't believe what happened to her, and how Vince told her not to talk about it.

Former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro was found hanging in an apparent suicide, according to multiple sources who have spoke with TMZ Sports.

As weve noted, the 2005 Divas Search winner passed away last Thursday at the age of 39. She was found unconscious at her home in Smithtown, NY shortly after 5am ET after she failed to show up for work at a local radio station. She was taken to a local hospital by first responders and later pronounced dead. She would have turned 40 on May 26 and leaves behind one daughter. Local authorities have classified Massaros death as non-criminal and foul play was not suspected.

TMZ also noted that Massaro is being laid to rest in Suffolk County, NY.

The New York Post reports that Massaros lawyer told them that her brain may be donated to Dr. Bennet Omalu, who is a professor at the University of California at Davis known as The Concussion Doctor. Omalu researches CTE, a condition associated with multiple head injuries and concussions, and has previously released findings related to CTE in pro football players.

CTE can only be confirmed after death. Lawyer Konstantine Kryos, who has represented Massaro and other former WWE Superstars in lawsuits against the company, told The Post that hes asked Massaros mother and daughter about donating her brain.

They were a little upset about it, Kryos said, adding that theres a little time to make the decision. He claimed, It was Ashleys wishes to donate her brain.

CM Punk called into the WMGM radio show in Atlantic City, NJ on Friday and said he heard that Massaro had taken her life. This was before the manner of death has been publicly disclosed, but there was already speculation due to social media comments from several people close to Massaro, including Michelle McCool. Punk begged listeners to get help if they are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, as Massaro had.

Tremendously sad way to go, Punk said. He continued, thoughts obviously go out to her family, especially her daughter. Its May. Its Mental Health Month if youre depressed and things arent going your way, theres no reason to feel alone. Just reach out to somebody. Text a friend. Call somebody. Theres hotlines. Theres ways you can get help.

Lost a family member to suicide so every time I read about someone who seems to have it all from being happy to certain goals accomplished or setup, but commits suicide breaks my heart.

Well...there's that, I guess.

Does anyone know what Ashley was doing outside of WWE all these years? Is there any chance that she was involved in an escort service again? Could the hanging have been a case of erotic asphyxiation? I'm gonna assume that all of this was taken into consideration by the proper authorities...but, still.

Always have a thought whenever somebody dies and doesn't list the cause that it's a suicide, but I love being wrong. This is unfortunate :(

I've never heard this cover up story before. Heartbreaking if true.

I've heard of it once or twice. WWE really needs to be called out when they do shit like this

Forgot about it, but reading this.....yeah. I remember hearing about it aswell.

Absolutely disgusting and it pisses me of that I can't possibly bring myself to think that the accousations are too far fetched.

This is the story I saw on Reddit. I read the transcrips of it, and it made me sick to my stomach. As someone who lost their Uncle( not a blood relative, he was my aunt's ex-husband) to suicide, this really hits home.

After reading the transcript I just can't support WWE anymore. I appreciate that I don't need to post this publicly but after the Saudi shows, Hogan coming back, Lars not being fired and now this, I just can't keep supporting the company. There comes a point where there's just too much cognitive dissonance.

I've been a weekly watcher of WWE since early 2000 and have watch everything I can get my hands on long before the network (of which I have been a paying subscriber since day one).

It isn't a boycott, I'm just disillusioned with the company as a whole. Luckily given how mediocre the television shows have been it's easier than ever to find an alternative.

I disagree with Lars needing to be fired. Hasn't been reported that he's been making personal apologies and making efforts to right his wrongs? Something Hogan hasn't done. If he's changed then what is the problem?

Dude, it's 2019, wanting people fired and their lives ruined even though they are trying to atone for their actions is the new cool thing. Get with the times man.

Amen, indeed.

Might be the perfect time to end my monthly expenditure on the WWE Network.

If the rape allegations are accurate, then WWE is not the only smoking gun here.

People need to get around their unwavering love for military personnel and admit that there are too many shady characters falling through the cracks of this nation's armed services. We see it time and time again with shootings on military bases, violent behavior of personnel in deployment (for example, the guy who threw the puppy off the cliff), and we're seeing it here with sexual assault.

Now, I'm not calling for some outrage response against the US military...I'm just saying, WWE felt obligated to protect the US military and paint them in a positive light so that your average viewer would continue to view the armed forces as this "godsend"...but things aren't like that. The US military is sprinkled with these unsavory characters who prove that some people are just evil.

So, if we're going to give WWE shit for trying to protect the image of the armed forces (which is what they were doing more than they were protecting themselves)...then we definitely need to give the US government shit for allowing these types of people to somehow lead prosperous lives inside the system and get away with these things.

Again...this is assuming that the allegations are true. BUT...you have to remember, these allegations do implicate the US military, so...it's not like Ashley was trying to "take down" the WWE or something. For her to claim what is being claimed, she would have had to speak against the soldiers. Plenty of people have made claims against WWE in an attempt to undermine the WWE. No one really talks shit about US soldiers without fear of being verbally attacked for being "unpatriotic". If she was lying, it would have been just as easy to claim that she was raped in a WWE trainer's room at a regular show. There would be no need to bring the troops into it. That detail really makes it seem legit.

Also...(and almost to the defense of Vince and the WWE)...what would have happened if the WWE had followed through with pointing fingers at the US military? Would it have accomplished anything? We know what the government can get away with. We see that shit on a daily basis with Trump. So, I'm not really seeing an outcome where WWE could have sought justice and actually got it. It would have ruined the working relationship and ended the troop shows...and WWE would have made an enemy in the literal US government. I think it sounds like Vince knew this...and I'm not really sure what he could have done about it.

The rape is probably one of the most evil things I've ever read/seen and I've seen some dark shit.

Basically, Ashley Massaro was not worth making an enemy out of the US military. Not a positive conclusion, but a realistic one.

Maybe, in light of her death and in today's environment, something will rise up from that though.

With the US unhealthy obsession with their soldiers, it's no shock it was covered up so much. *censored*ing ridiculous tbh

Weird part is that only the guilty soldiers would be portrayed negatively, not the troops as a whole. Besides, there have been reports of sexual assaults going on for years, and the military's image hasn't really been affected too much as far as I know, if at all. I don't think Vince or WWE cared about making an enemy out of the military, they just respect and love the military too much to want to see them get in trouble. Haven't many speeches (during HoF?) ended with "god bless the troops?"

highly doubt anything will come of this, especially when you have people crying "what about false accusations?!" or "innocent until proven guilty!"

So just because someone is accused of something, they should be thrown in jail and made to suffer without a fair trial?
