Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed a report stating Sami Zayn will be taking some time off due to injuries he’s been working through.

PWInsider first reported Sami has been wrestling with multiple injuries and now that his feud with Bobby Lashley has concluded he’ll be traveling to Birmingham, Alabama to get checked out.

Sources tell us Zayn has been dealing with knee and shoulder injuries, but their severity is unknown at this time — so he’s getting them examined to find out.

This might explain why the wrestler’s match against Lashley at Money in the Bank was so one-sided.

Stay tuned for any additional updates on his condition.

So I just read he will be out until next year? Anybody can confirm?

Minimum 6 months. Two torn rotator cuffs. One in each shoulder.

After losing a match to Bobby Lashley at Money in the Bank, Sami Zayn didn’t appear on Monday Night Raw. Shortly afterward, it was reported that he was dealing with nagging injuries and needed some time off. That report claimed Zayn has been struggling with a shoulder and knee injury. Unfortunately, his injuries could not have been much worse.

The former NXT Champion did an exclusive interview with WWE.com and revealed he has suffered from two torn rotator cuffs. Sami underwent surgery on his right shoulder this week, but he’s going to have to wait another month or two before having another surgery on his left shoulder. The early timeline for his in-ring return is roughly a year.

“The Underdog from the Underground” brought up WrestleMania 35 as the benchmark for his return to the ring. However, the WWE Universe has seen some wrestlers sit on the sidelines as healthy scratches because there wasn’t enough time to bring them into a storyline before WWE’s grandest stage. Unfortunately, only time will tell for his return.

During the interview, the idea of Sami Zayn staying on television to cut promos came to light, but he couldn’t confirm anything because it’s really not his decision to make at the end of the day. WWE officials also have a habit of not using performers for that purpose on WWE television. If that were the case, Dean Ambrose would be on Raw right now.

The worst part of this injury is Sami Zayn was just starting to hit his stride as a heel on Raw. He carried the feud with Bobby Lashley for weeks mostly through his work on the microphone. Not being able to watch him perform for upwards of a year is the greatest tragedy of the week. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is wish Sami the best.

  • 1 month later...

It had been previously reported that Sami Zayn had been dealing with injuries, and has been off of WWE programming since June of this year.

But how long will be out of action?

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Zayn had surgery on his left shoulder this past week due, to a torn rotator cuff. This is in addition to the shoulder surgery that he had back in June. If you combine those two surgeries, it is expected that he will be out for at least another six months.

In no way am I implying that Sami is finished or anything...but I was just trying to think of a role that Zayn could fill if he ever needs to retire from the ring, and I'm left with nothing. Manager, maybe...? He's just so damn hyper. I feel like his gimmick only works because he's an in-ring competitor. Would any of that really carry over to a different area of the product? Not sure.

On second thought, he'd make a hilarious GM. I could picture him wearing glasses for some reason, and just always losing or forgetting shit. "I can't find my glasses, have you seen my glasses? I was wearing them a moment ago, and I went to the bathroom, then I stopped by catering. I can't find my glasses".

He should be some kind of overhyped stats-guy, but the kind of stats nobody cares about, giving him an overbearing character to say the least. He'll be out here dishing out stats to other wrestlers.

"So Roman, out of all the times you've UWAAAA'd, 78% of them actually ended up in getting chokeslammed when facing Kane. I'd suggest not doing that if you find yourself in the same ring with him."
