BWA becomes BWX

British Wrestling Alliance as a company name no longer makes sense, when this year's BWA is a more scaled-down affair. It is largely based on Lucha Underground's presentation and visual style. A smaller, but more intimate, roster of old and new faces will be shown-off in the future. But first, lets talk about the company and it's design elements.

I wanted to take the 'A' away from BWA it was not an Alliance or Association, comparing itself to the NWA governing body of federations. I did like the 'British Wrestling' though, because I wanted that distinction from American-style 'sports entertainment'. I decided to look at whom my roster would have on it, and decided that it would have a mixture of wrestlers and styles, but with a heavier focus on technical wrestlers, and masked and unmasked cruiserweights/luchadores. So whilst I did not want Alliance to represent lots of companies for this smaller company with a more intimate roster, I did want to give the idea that the company would have different styles incorporated into it, the experience I wanted the company to offer. I rememered MLW: Hybrid Wrestling. Suddenly, I had my new name. BWA becomes British Wrestling Xperience, and it has two styles of logo. Well... 3 logos, if you count the more intricate version of the lion head logo on the ring matt, which didn't translate to other styles very well at all - but that's ok, Lucha Underground has a different symbol on it's ring matt to it's company logo anyway. I will at least re-use my ring matt's logo on the belt(s) too.

Lucy Youngblood - Women's Classic

Lucy has spent much of her time in my efed career being some form of manager for wrestlers and stables, general manager, company owner, as well as adultress and mother. She really has shown a lot of progression over the years. She holds ownership, in character, of the various efeds and caw show IP that were formerly scattered throughout different characters including: TheNewBlood Wrestling, New Era Wrestling, International Wrestling Council and it's 'SuperClash' inter-fed pay per views, British Wrestling Xperience (formerly BWA) etc. I thought to myself that if I was going to keep her on as the owner of BWX, then I wanted to age her visually, and make her look the part of a veteran wrestling personality and business executive - which she has been for at least 5 years now, having previously retired from the ring. As I played around with her, I liked the changes I gave her more and more. Tanned, probably for the first time ever. A thicker build to show age, and a nasty attitude to go along with it, not willing to put up with younger wrestler's shit in 'her' company. This brought me around to thinking about who these younger wrestlers would be. I have a couple of new-ish characters from 2012ish, and one or two newer characters from last year's game. But overall, 'new blood' was needed, pun intended. Cue a rip-off of the Mae Young Classic, with the winner of the tournament winning the right to fight Lucy in her first match back from retirement.

WWE Sucks - Don't Call Me Paige

I've recently been watching Shimmer: Women's Athletics from the start, to get ideas for women's wrestlers after I decided to go witha tournament made-up of newer/brand-new talent. One thing I noticed in a nice little 8 episode storyline was the stark difference between Shimmer's Brittanie Knight verses what she would later become, WWE's Paige. I've never been a fan of Paige really. But Brittanie Knight was full of charisma and personality. It was fun to see this younger rookie character eventually get around to fighting a No DQ match against her overbaring mother. I decided to make a young, cocky, rookie character. Haven't created her mother yet, nor have I got a name for her (stand-in name is Nikki, but I'm sure that will change.)

BWX Arena Updates

I believe this arena is finished. Credit to jcrl1988 for the idea of putting steps onto the minitron/ribbon, as though the wrestlers have walked down stairs and through the video screen to get to the stage. Previously, I had just had a ''hole'', by turning the minitron off. A quick side note, it is infuriating that individual wrestler entrance settings override the arena settings. I have to edit every caw (and every update) I donwnload to turn off multiple video screens, just to keep the presentation I want my arena to have.

Lucy Youngblood Classic takes shape

British Wrestling Xperience links-in with Hollywood Ladies Wrestling for the Lucy Youngblood Classic 2017.

HLW: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs5ea98zFz6sKdNezgAk7Bw

New entrance stage shows-off that this is a tournament match, and highlights both companies participating.

The ring also does this, by putting logos on the ring matt. I'm not too sure if this takes-away from the Lucha Underground visual style, but I wanted to represent both companies fairly.

This game is somewhat infuriating with Created Arenas and Entrances. First of all, the entrance video screen settings override the CAArena settings. So if a certain video is turned-off in the CAArena settings and replaced with a logo, in order to keep those visuals during entrances you'd have to go into every character and turn odd their header and ribbon (minitron) video.

Secondly, I updated the stages of my arenas to include ''header'' videos, and discovered that "header" in CAArena changes to the "apron and ring post movie" in CAEntrance. Even if you turn a&rp movie off it still does it 'and' there's no option to pick a NONE movie choice either. So in the Paparazzi arena, for example, there's no way to keep the floating hearts on the video screens on each side of the titantron video, during wrestler's entrances. In the BWX arena, where it says BWX Hybrid Wrestling above the main titantron, it will always play a video on that screen, with the logo i've put there being semi-transparent on-top of the video. So infuriating.

But these new arenas are how I've linked my fed and my friend's fed, with apron advertisements for each of the 'sister' company.

2k17's version of Mellissa Maverick I feel was closer to capturing Miss Madness's attire without being full-on evening gown/dress. But it was SUCH a pain in the ass to make, placing skin colored designs over the outfit on the leg, and trying to leave 'underwear' for when the in-match camera shots went up the legs. Various problems, like patterns resetting to white, or game patches making her look completely naked under the skirt even when the blue 'outfit' layer should still be showing through just made me not even want to attempt that attire again for 2k18. There are times where I hate the layering system that dictates, for example, that outfits go above everything else. Back in the old PS2 games I'd simply place skin colored tights on top of the outfit layer, then underwear layer on top of those - or I guess edit the length of the 'pants' part, but we can no longer edit the length of things. I only wanted the ''top'' half of the Natalya outfit without the ''pants''.

2k18 I feel is more of a unique look. I'm just not sure if it is straying ''too far'' from the original inspiration now. I feel like this is something you would see Summer Rae or Lana wear. But I do like it. In terms of wrestling style, she's totally Molly Holly :). I ''glitz'd'' up her attire so that she better fits-in with Hollywood Ladies Wrestling. Due to this I will most likely add some more flashy moves to her, I'm thinking some kicks.

I've been trying to get this blasted character formed correctly since 2007. There was one moment when TNA were just starting their Knockouts division, when Angel Williams (not yet named Angelina Love), tricked another woman into charging her, as Angel herself stood on the apron in an over the top rope battle royal. That charging woman then ate a jawbreaker which caught their throat on the ropes. Angel Williams sat on the apron and just tapped her head like ''I'm smarter than you, bitch!''. Since that moment I've always thought there can be a great efed character there. A female Mr. Perfect/Curt Hennig. Someone who's moveset flows and moves follow-on from another fluidly. A lady with just the right amount of flash to her moves, to be seen as showing-up her opponents by out-wrestling them. The "Curtis" surname comes from Hennig, obviously. The Meghan name comes from me mistakenly thinking that Charlotte Flair (with her "I'm better than you" attitude) is portrayed by Megan Flier (it's not, it's Ashley Flier). But once I hit upon the Meghan Curtis name, it just sounded right. The cyan and black colors in her main attire are Curt Hennig (WCW era) tribute. The pink is just an attempt to make her more ''girly''/Hollywood-esque for Hollywood Ladies Wrestling. Late-on in 2k17 I changed her hair and attire-up to try to give her more of a cocky attitude/personality. Whilst I liked her new hair, I wasn't really sold on her tassell attire.

For 2k18 I had an idea of how I wanted her to look, including the Curt Hennig 'triangle of black' on the back/ass. I added-in the gold to give her more of her own look rather than being a full-on Hennig tribute. I also returned to pink again, but went with hot pink this time. I really, really like how she has turned-out on this year's game. What's more, is there are more 'fluid' moves on this year's game, so her finisher is now Tyler Breeze's Glitter Blizard.

Blizzard - Before Kazu Tagahashi became more dragon-like, evolving his look from Ultimato Dragon to Lucha Underground's Drago, he was always a Japanese take-off of WCW's Glacier. I don't really know why, I suppose I always liked blue on him. Somewhere in there, with the Glacier idea, came coldness and the inevitable comparisons to Mortal Kombat's Sub Zero. It made sense that Kazu was always Toxic's rival, being that Toxic was always sporting the green and white, falling somwhere between WCW's Mortis, and Mortal Kombat's Reptile. These days I usualy tend to make women characters, so that they can be used in my friend's Hollywood Ladies Wrestling youtube CAW Show ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs5ea98zFz6sKdNezgAk7Bw ). This female, temporarily called Blizzard, has nothing to do with Kazu (as Kazu still sports the dragon these days, and is no longer a blue-clad japanese wrestler), but she will be Venom's main rival.

Venom - this is a straight 1:1 female port of Toxic. All manner of Japenese staples, such as the green mists and stiff kicks aplenty. I wonder if I should make a ''yellow ninja'', just to complete the ''mortal kombat pack'', haha!
