Struggling to enjoy Universe this year.

Usually, Universe Mode is the only mode every year I will devote my time to. I enjoy being a fantasy booker but also getting involved with the matches and enjoying some exciting back and forth fights.

However this year, I don't know. Something just feels a bit, off. Matches don't flow very well. The reversal window makes it harder to have a back and forth match. The promo system is, boring at best and the matchup generator done by the computer makes some truly strange and bizarre pairings and cutscenes.

Trying currently to use a more realistic slider set but it hasn't made too much of a difference so far. Have to say the frame rate also feels really jerky during matches too.

Anybody feeling the same? If I continue to experience the above, I might just drudge through the MyPlayer mode and use universe to sim CPU vs CPU...

Everyones universe is different obviously. But if i could offer some advice? Reset your universe and go through the rosters assigning everyone to the shows you want them on first, once thats said and done, I personally take the time and go through each person and remove all rivals/allies. Everyone that will be on the shows has a blank slate. That way after a few shows things form organically, i find it makes a difference.

Of course i say this in the case that you dont already do this lol. As far as reversals go i would just say keep at it and practice them. Once you have the timing down youll have no issues. This year had a bit of a learning curve to it.

Being honest man, I have just jumped straight in with the default rosters (The only things I've changed are the cruiserweights to be exclusive to 205 and changed tag team members so that they aren't eligible for other titles than the tag belts)

On previous universe modes, it's worked out really well just playing through the rivalries and matches the CPU sets up but it seems a bit disjointed and random this time around. I suppose I could completely start afresh and draw up some rosters - don't suppose you'd know of any online generators/tools to help me achieve that would you?

Also, do you think 4 brands (RAW, Smackdown, 205 Live and NXT) might be a bit much to manage? I'm wondering if the match generation is being affected by this perhaps?

Aware I need to practice the reversals more, I think it's a much shorter window this year so that's just something to adapt to.

Can't explain the stuttery frame rate though, like I say, the smoothness of last year doesn't seem to reflect when in matches this year. Can't really explain it but hopefully you understand what I mean by that aha

For a generator im not too sure man. To be honest I make two shows myself, one that has all my personal favorites which ill mainly play cause of dream matches/feuds, good wrestling in general, and the other show i sim and fill the roster with the guys i dont wanna play with or have involved with the main show. I also make any duplicates inactive (for example Id make current Big Show inactive for his 2000 version). Its also important that if you go through everyone and erase allies/rivals, you should make them one show exclusive, that helps too.

For the frame rate I unfortunately dont know your pain, I upgraded my ps4 to the pro version and dont have any issues with a 6-8 man match with all caws in a created arena for a created title, as an example. Ive heard the standard version systems have had problems. If money isnt an issue id say trade in and upgrade, the Pro is worth it, or One X if youre an XBox guy.

Hmm no worries, I'll see if I can find anything online when I get chance. Failing that, might just draft a RAW and Smackdown roster manually through number allocation or something etc.

As tempting as making one dream roster and one full of guys I'm not interested in using for feuds and storylines, I'm a bit of a traditionalist in terms of trying to balance the roster so that I always have a balanced main event, midcard and lower card setup so that I get to experience a good blend of matches ranging from quick squash matches to 5 star classics but I see where you're coming from with only using the people you enjoy.

Yeah it seems to be a general issue really which is a shame as the last game ran really smoothly with hardly any slowdowns for me so this is a new one for me to experience. I was considering upgrading to the pro at some point, however I only feel I would get the most out of it with a 4k tv, which I don't have yet. It will be something I'll keep in mind though.

I concur that the frame rate is absolutely horrible this year. For my sanity, I went back to the previous few years' titles, and they're much more fluid.

I suddenly feel like a 'last gen' user, as they seemed to have tailored the game towards the PS4 Pro and the XB1 X.

At first I was like you but then the guys told me to assign the rivals and play through the the potential rivalries matches and u know what I ve had the most memorable moments in WWE games since HCTP especially in my Eddie Guerrero vs Triple H rivalry where it was filled with cutscenes and shocking moment and I ve been enjoying it since

Yup. Sometimes, just play the matches booked. Sometimes you have to edit the card.

But Id say Id also edit the contenders for the title. Only have your top guys go for the world title. Midcarders for Midcard. Tag team for tag team. Thatll help not jumble up your division.

Hold number 1 contender matches and use the ranking system to your benefit.
