Microtransactions.

A hot topic recently. What is your stance on this? I think they're only good if they're cosmetic and have no effect on the game. The way gaming is going with everything becoming pay to win is annoying, even in offline games. Wont be long before 2K make those loot boxes in MyCareer buyable with your bank account.

Don't mind em...if they're A) something worthwhile...and B) reasonably priced. A good example of micro transactions that are WAY too expensive are the ones in Marvel Heroes Omega. But, you know...I don't really mind micro transactions that are 99 cents, or a couple bucks. And...you definitely can't "need" to buy things in order to succeed. The purchases should just be to add additional enjoyment for people who like that sort of thing.

Depends what it is. If it's one time buy only, I'd say that's a DLC. If it's like - "pay 99p now to avoid waiting 20 hours for your shit to grow", that's a MT.

If it's like, a 99p experience boost in Pokemon that will work forever, that would be a DLC

Which is still fine, IMO...as long as it's cheap and it isn't necessary for completion. Sometimes you just want to level up immediately for whatever reason...and having the option to spend a small fee to do so is not really a bad thing to have, IMO. As long as it's 100% your decision, and not something that you need to move on...then that is cool. What I don't like, are character unlocks that require "gold" or "coins" or anything like that. If WWE games start having that shit, I'm 100% not cool with it.

Also, can I just say...I hate microtransactions where the reward is not guaranteed. That's basically gambling, and I'm not sure how game companies get away with those kinds of transactions in video games, with a fanbase of minors.

They have a loop hole. In China, it was made illegal to buy MT for that very reason as it was gambling. So they came up with a cheat. Now you buy coins and get the loot box as "a bonus". Now they aint illegal in China any more.

that's why so many games have in game currency. You aint buying the stuff with money directly... you're buying the coins. Aint their fault you're using the coins for gambling after that!

they all found a loophole and abuse it.

That's what I was on about as well though, you pay a shit tonne then don't even get anything good. Whoops, gotta go buy another £50 worth of loot boxes!!!! ...wait no, I mean buy £50 worth on... in game currency to use on whatever you want, whether it's DLC or loot boxes.

I dont mind them, at all. A.) If theyre something we can all get regardless, no point in getting riled up over someone paying to get it early/without the work. If theyre willing to spend their money on that, whos to say no. B.) If it isnt something we can all get regularly, i.e. DLC, well then again, its DLC, spend the extra money to get it, or shut up about it.

I understand thats just the world we live in now, so why should the gaming companies lose out on profit because people would rather spend for something to get it quicker, or just to spend because they want it?

They're fine with me, as long as they're competitively priced and don't tread into P2W territory.... developers also have mouths to feed at home.

You do understand that Micro transactions are mainly a publisher scheme and benefits mostly the publisher?
