New Table Moves/Finishers

SmackTalks confirmed there's no new table moves, or finishers.

I think that's the final straw for me. I really don't see much improved on this game at all, which is all the more shocking considering they didn't have to worry about the previous gen. I'm a big tables mark, and they've done nothing to integrate them in to anything at all. To have these backstage areas and not be able to use a table is completely ridiculous. Plus, I don't like the direction 2K are going in in terms of more automated 'cutscene' bumps. I miss the days of creating crazy scenarios. Everything now seems to be at the push of a button. It's gone 'OMG' mad.

First time i'm not getting a WWE game on its release date since War Zone. Really gutted.

Couldn't agree more with this. I mostly play Legends in Universe. So there are less Legends this year and Universe looks less than 5% improved. So how can I justify the cost?? The graphics look better and the gameplay slightly improved. I love 8 in the ring and ironically this is the first WWE game ai'll miss since JBI (also had 8 in the ring). I also don't like the direction they are going with the MyPlayer focus. They should focus on the most popular mode which is Universe (poll result evidenced this). I miss the days of HCTP a the arcade feel of the game too. I guess I'm just not the target audience anymore. ?

I was really excited by 2K taking over. Generally speaking, I think they've made great strides in the gameplay by slowing it down and making it more of a simulation. But I feel the direction in the past year or two has started to move away from what I enjoy, as you say. I used to enjoy the freedom of bumps not being the same every time, but they've now restricted our creativity and made everything cleaner, which many seem to like, but to me, it just stifles creativity.

I've always wanted it to move towards a more ragdoll based bump/selling system, at least when the opponent is fatigued.

I just look at this year's game and see little to no improvement on any of the things I felt needed improving. Generally, all I really see is:

  • Slightly improved graphics (the first few screenshots looked great, but since then, I can't help but feel they really haven't improved all that much)
  • Quantity over quality - yes, we have more backstage areas, but they're essentially just elongated versions of what we had before, with some really bad animations (the throwing animation for weapons, as well as throwing your opponent would have looked off in a PS2 game)
  • Lack of improvement on weapons physics - last big overhaul was 2011. 2011..... How hard would it be to have a table that breaks like the pre-2011 games, that doesn't disappear, yet allows us to do whatever through it? Which leads me on to...
  • The phasing out of D-Throws - again, stifling creativity. Many moves since 2K took over are labelled 'D-Throws', yet you can't control the direction of them. I always loved this feature and expected it to be added to more and more moves, yet they've gone the other way
  • No changes in gameplay - I literally haven't seen anything i'd consider an improvement. Some new moves, and that's about it. Still has fairly poor collision detection, lots of glitches
  • MyCareer and Universe mode - they're honestly just the same. I was hugely underwhelmed by the lack of new features introduced in the Uni mode video. If that's the 'best bits', I dread to find out just how samey the mode is. It's time they drop Uni mode, in my opinion. It's dreadfully boring. And I haven't properly touched MyCareer mode since 2016. Every year it looks the same, and I hear the same feedback from users - "not much has changed, but i'm sure it'll be much improved next year"
  • Gimmick matches - i'm ok with them not adding Ambulance matches, Buried Alive etc, on the proviso that you overhaul some of the current gimmick matches you have. Again, when was the last time the HIAC or Cage match was updated? Other than having the ability to have an 8 man HIAC or what have you, I see no reason to play the same gimmick match i've played for the past x years
  • Lack of transfer options - if nothing has been removed in CAW mode, then why can't we transfer our CAWs? With a smart file naming system, I see no reason why they haven't looked in to this. I finally have run out of steam. I can't keep creating the same guys i've created since around 2011. We've had a similar CAW system for a couple of years now - please find a way for us to transfer these CAWs and save boat loads of time
  • Lack of Create-An-Arena updates - Sure, it's an already great mode. But no ability to add banners, more items, and more freedom generally is a negative

I'm so disappointed. I always try to be positive for the yearly WWE games. I always find something i'm really excited for, but literally everything i've potentially been excited for has been scuppered. I booked a day off to play the game all day, but I think i'll be re-arranging that for some other time. I just can't see myself buying it until it's reduced in price.

I couldn't agree more and I hope someone from 2K reads this. They need the feedback. I try to be positive too. I am glad we can use stage throws and the 8 man matches I have wanted since Legends of Wrestling had them back on PS2. I guess my disappointment is that it just feels like we've hit a ceiling. Add to that the crazy DLC price. I have found a copy in Australia with $30 off making it just $70. But I still don't think I want to invest. I think I will wait for 2K19.

What do you mean no changes the game play the whole carry system is a change the game play

I'll wait till I hear more varied opinions once people have played it for a few weeks. I hope it's improved, I truely do. But I hope you can see my point that as a player who enjoys using a Legends Roster and Universe, it's hard to justify the upgrade. I guess it's also an indication of just how good these games are. But I don't see this as a big leap forward.

I know i'll be jumped on for this, but I went back and played SDvRaw 2008. It's literally exactly the same thing. They've just re-introduced it as a 'new' feature. I get it - that's THQ, this is 2K, but it's still Yukes, it's still the same franchise.

It's a nice feature, i'm happy with it, but is that alone enough for me to spend what, £70? I can't justify it. Besides, I think it's only 3 positions. SDvRaw had a few more than that.

the match creator alone sells the game for me on so many levels. sure we had it in the past but i'm glad it's finally back, and from the videos i've seen it looks like we have a lot more freedom for creating matches such as hopefully finally being able to have the likes of a 6 man elimination HIAC. match creator increase the replayability tenfold.

Sooooooo no new table finishers....means a no buy? Ha. K

If you actually read what was written.... ha

I did Mr No Avatar photo. If dude feels that ''no improvement'' is a no buy, and ALSO, no new table finishers is his perogative. One less sale, also means one less person complaining in the threads. Lose-Win, Loss for 2K, Win for us

And I've done nearly 20 years online and in forums, and I refuse to do the back and forth negative crapfest. I'll just block ya

Please try not to flame or flamebait, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Thank you - i'm not here to be needlessly negative. I've been a huge supporter of the franchise since the 90's. But it's the first year i've been genuinely disappointed for a release, and i've tried to explain that in detail.

Unfortunately, many have seen the 'headline' and drawn their own conclusion. My point was, it was the final straw for me. I actually bullet-pointed my reasoning a few posts above.

It's cool, but I never found it to be a huge feature in the old games. It was kind of neat, but I didn't hugely notice its omission. It's definitely nice to have it back, but i'm getting to the point where i'm considering:

Play the old games with match creator/ultimate control moves vs. buy the new game for £70 and have to re-create all of my CAWs and arenas, despite the modes not really changing much

It's pretty demotivating.

i probably just notice it more cos i play a lot of local co-op with my mates so the more match options the better.
