Mass shooting thread

R.I.P. to the victims.

Apparently some customers were armed at that Walmart, yet 19 people died. Guess more guns don't help, huh? Not to mention that multiple people with guns out would make it hard for officers to determine who the shooter is

just an example of this from this exact shooting

To think, you rarely seen or heard about tragedies like this back then. Heck, in Michigan alone, you hear about shootings. There was one 2 blocks from my house. Wheather it's more strict gun control or more funding and studying of mental illness. Something needs to be done about this.

A shooting terrorist attack at a bar in Dayton, Ohio (news still developing as of me posting) with at least 10 dead...

they blame video games and anything but the guns, then they want more people to have guns trusting that the "good guys" will jump in to save the day using their guns... like it's a video game

https://twitter.com/existentialfish/status/1158018462125572102?s=19

I...

-McCarthy was specifically asked directly about violence and videogames, he didn't state that videogames led to violence.

-White terrorism, like all terrorism, needs to be called out and defeated.

-Might I also add that even though most of the mass shootings have happened this decade, we are also at an all-time low in murder. We need to locate the reason to why this is, whether it be mental illness, domestic terrorism etc.

-The GOP, led by John Cornyn, tried to pass an NRA-backed bill three years ago that gave the attorney general 72 hours to prove there was a probable cause for denying a suspected terrorist the ability to purchase a gun. The measure garnered support from the National Rifle Association but failed on a 53-47 vote. It needed 60 votes to pass. All the Senate Dems voted against it.

-Why do I bring this up? Because this bill could have prevented the two shootings.

-Trump and the GOP have already banned bump stocks and are considering banning suppressors, yet they are doing nothing according to all of you.

-So this whole, blame the GOP and the NRA bit needs to go.

-I still believe that gun violence restraining orders is something everyone can get behind.

we can all agree on the first part, and GVRO sounds like something I can get behind, at least as a first step.

I still believe that the president's rhetoric against immigrants and Muslims creates/intices white supremacist agendas (especially if the recently discovered manifestos turn out to actually be written by the Walmart terrorist) and that access to automatic rifles should at the very least be very stricted.

Why hasn't HR-8 reached Senate vote yet?

Im not trying to be an asshole man, but automatic rifles have been restricted since the 80's. A civilian can't buy an automatic rifle made after 1986 (just off the top of my head, could be wrong) and it is severely regulated.

If we are going to blame rhetoric, then you would surely blame Sanders for the Scalise shooting and AOC and the Squad for the ICE Detention Center bombing then, right?

Which only further proves that white supremacists are the most dangerous menace afflicting this country. They are unscrupulous and are willing to walk into any church or school or store and open fire on anyone, killing dozens.

Mental illness is just a shitty excuse and cop-out to deflect blame from guns and horrible gun control laws.

That's not enough, they need to do more, like putting a cap on how much guns one can buy or having a strict punishment for people who don't put in data correctly. And they should be banning suppressors, not considering it. Why would citizens need suppressors?

Or how about so-called "pro-lifers" bombing/shooting up Planned Parenthood Centers? The concentration camp being bombed likely had a reason behind it - because of how ICE treat immigrants and abuse their power. Did Scalise's shooter ever give a reason why? According to Wiki, it was because of his rage against Republicans. Hmm, reminds me of the right and their rage against liberals and left wingers.

That hasn't been prevalent since Eric Rudolph in the 90's.

Not at all. If we are going to blame rhetoric, then be consistent about it. That's all I ask.

The shooter literally said, "This is for healthcare."

Yes, all rhetoric is bad and should be prohibited from being used by a political figure looking to serve it's people, though if this was the case Trump would have absolutely nothing to run on.

Great economy.

Lowest unemployment in US history.

Deregulation of businesses.

CO2 levels decreasing despite deregulation.

Yeah, nothing. Those are just off of the top of my head.

It takes me less than a minute to find a way how to modify a weapon into an automatic one

That's already illegal, and a dangerous task to do if you don't know what you are doing.

You've never fired with a suppressor before. It is nothing like the movies. They actually still make plenty of sound.

I agree about the data. Most of these mass shootings recently have been some type of failure when it comes to the government.

A law abiding citizen shouldn't have a cap on how many guns they can buy.

Doesn't matter if it's prevalent or not, Planned Parenthood Centers shouldn't be attacked, especially by people who claim to be "pro-life," which none of them are, in fact.

Yes at all. There's consistency behind context, and the concentration camp got attacked because of the humans rights violation going on with immigrants and especially children. It's bad, but I'm not gonna feel sad at all if ICE or Border Patrol officers get killed.

Ah, because the republicans were trying to get rid of healthcare. SHame he didn't go after McConnell
