Bdon
I'm more upset that they won't give him the death penalty. That's because it's illegal to give a minor death penalty according 2 the Constitution Yeah I know. 17 years old is not a minor in many states though. He shouldn't be tried as a minor. But it is what it is.Even if he charges adult heel still not be eligible for the death penalty As I said. It is what it is. M3J
This is why I can't agree with banning guns, and why no one should. Just stricter gun control. Not sure if it would have made a difference in this case though.

The Le' Baller
I just don't understand the gun control argument. It's not the people buying the guns in most cases that do the shooting. Now, let me interject and say I live in Mississippi, the most backwoods redneck part of the country, and I don't own a single gun. No interest in em. But most shooting are done with stolen guns or, as is the case with most school shootings, guns taken from parents. Now, whether the gun was locked up or not, if a kid is hell bent on getting their hands on a gun, they're going to get one. That's the problem, it's far too easy to get your hands on someone else's gun.
LEGION
Maybe do what alot of European countries do... Don't keep your ammo where your gun is.

That's the problem, it's far too easy to get your hands on someone else's gun. Again, this is assuming that the issue people have is with guns in general (for the most part it isn't, and never has been). - Which all goes right back around to the extreme claims that pro gun fanatics make about people wanting to take their guns away. The problem is with gun culture. And I don't mean movies and video games, or the like. The culture established by gun-nuts, and with people who want unnecessary calibers of fire-power just "because they can". The type of people who buy large caliber weapons to shoot explosive barrels in their backyard and shout from the mountain-tops "god bless guns!"...the NRA, who send out fliers with fear tactics, trying to convince Americans that people are coming for their liberties. Anyone who perpetuates any level of myth around guns or the ownership of said guns...and anyone who glorifies guns or treats them as anything other than a lethal weapon. Those people are the problem. And it's the same with anything, really. Think about drug culture. It's very similar. A ton of people smoke weed...and that's cool. But then you have the people who live by it...where that's all they talk about. Those people make that entire culture cringy af. There's not singular solution to quelling shootings in the US. But the place to start is certainly with gun culture. Anyone who feels the need to emphasize their obsession with guns over their own humanity is a large part of the problem. I'd say that crosses the line of responsible ownership, tbh. A big part of responsible ownership in my opinion, would not even mentioning that you own a gun, and only using it when you want to practice your aim or clean it, etc. But gun culture makes people obsess over the idea of guns. You have these parents who idolize deadly weapons and instill that upon their children. The children might not be the ones buying the weapons...but if they're raised to worship them, then what the hell is the difference? If you raise kids in a home where guns are idolized, don't expect them to be able to necessarily treat them with the same respect that you yourself might. Remember that kids are still developing and are susceptible to any number of outside traumas. If you're openly praising deadly weapons around your children, then you are not a responsible gun owner. That's all there is to it. It doesn't matter if you keep them unloaded, under lock and key. If the conversation at the dinner table revolves around how much you love your gun...then your child is adopting that same intrigue.
M3J
If i recall correctly, most mass shootings have occurred with legally bought guns. The Parkland shooter bought guns legally despite his history because the authorities didn't do their job properly, although given how lax gun control is, he probably would have gotten it anyway. I dunno how buying guns work though.

M3J
I'm assuming if one wants to buy a gun, one would have to put in an application and normally have a waiting period before one can get the gun. No license, no gun. In some cases though, apparently they can get the gun immediately.
