It only worked for *censored*ing Elias.

Mainly because he's a musician, and that's a common thing with egotistical musicians.

I don't mind the Viking Raiders single names too much...because, it also kinda goes with brutes...like Hawk and Animal, Axe and Smash. Realistically, big savage vikings probably would have only one name. That said, they should have gone with something closer to the aforementioned classic teams. It almost feels like they went "half-cheese" when they should have just gone full cheese. If you're going to dumb something down in pro wrestling...it's always better to dumb it all the way down, IMO. Having names like Erik and Ivar humanizes them, when their group name of Viking Raiders makes them sound the opposite of that. If they had super corny names like Hammer and Fist, or Blood and Guts, I might like them more.

My main issue with "Ivar" comes from there being a different character on the TV show "Vikings" with that name and the only way Hanson and him could look anymore different, would be if one of them had boobs

Also..."Hanson. Rowe. War Raiders" was already perfectly fine for what Gen mentioned

Not sure how I feel about Cesaro, Rusev, and Sheamus...

There's always that weird gray area of "are the names actually better shortened, or have we all just grown used to them that way?"...I mean, if they still had their full names, you would be calling them Cesaro, Rusev, or Sheamus anyway. Just for the sake of convenience. People have always shortened the names naturally just to save time. But, it's not a bad thing to have longer names, just to mix the commentary up.

For example...there was a recent Andrade match the other week, and I was almost ready to mute it from the number of times I heard "Andrade" by the commentary. If he still had Andrade Cien Almas as his full name, they could mix up the commentary with any of the three names, and wouldn't need to say Andrade 30 times in 50 seconds. They could have said "Almas hits the headscissors" [...] "Andrade now going to the top rope" [...] "Cien Almas is on fire!" and so on. Instead, it was like "Andrade hits the dropkick! Andrade to the corner! Andrade showing no signs of slowing down. Andrade, Andrade, Andrade..."

TJ Perkins to TJ Pee was another bad shortening in recent memory.

I think he personally requested that after he turned heel. Cause he still uses TJP since returning to Impact recently, tho commentary will refer to him by both names.

It only worked for *censored*ing Elias.

I would say it worked for Cesaro, Rusev and Sheamus too

I'll agree with Sheamus, as Sheamus O'Shaunnesy was a damn mouthful, but I really like Antonio Cesaro and Alexander Rusev.

Like, just Rusev worked fine when he was doing his dude-bro thing with English, but whenever he was more of a brute, Alexander had this sense of regalness to it that kind of made him seem more dimensional. It's weird to explain.

And Antonio Cesaro was just an all around great name. Nothing else to say there.

I'll say that it worked for Neville, specifically when he turned heel.
