The punt is a shitty overrated move.

I was always indiiferrnt towards that move. Preferred it more when he did it during random attacks and stuff and not during matches.

I started watching right around the time the Punt was being hyped as this decisive, killing move, so it really holds a special place for me. I remember HBK returned from a kayfabe punt acquired concussion like a month or two after I started, and my buddy was explaining how vicious the thing was.

It's a kick to the head, like...cool I guess? I know Big Show has a punch and Sheamus has a big boot and that anything can be billed as a finisher, but it never looked impactful and people rarely sold it well. IMO.

A *censored*ing kick to a prone opponent's head never looked impactful to you? That's about as impactful of an attack as you could ever hope to have. There's a reason why attacks like that are illegal in the UFC, for example...

Yeah, I don't understand how anyone could think the Punt Kick doesn't look impactful, either. I do agree that some people didn't sell the move all that well. Definitely more convincing than pretty much any other striking move.

I'm very aware of how much it would hurt, but what you're talking about are the logistics and idea behind the move. What I'm talking about is that is didn't LOOK impactful when Orton did. Not very often anyway. He looked dainty. I never found it to be executed well, but that move in the hands of someone like Shibata...sure, I would not have called it overrated.

 

However, Orton's punt kick looked shitty and that's my point. I'm not here to talk about what moves would actually hurt or not.

I've always felt that Rollins' curb stomp should've been used in the same way that the punt was, only ever used to put people out etc. Meh.....

From what I remember, Orton delivered an absolutely brutal shoot punt kick on Vince McMahon and afterwards, almost out of shock to how brutal his kick was, he really held back in every other subsequent punt kick.
