Mother lets snake bite her one-year-old baby to 'teach a lesson'

Two months old but I just saw this covered on TV
Chartelle Geanette St Laurent, who grew up interacting with reptiles, said she decided to “teach” her one-year-old about the dangers posed by the creatures.
She told investigators from Highlands County Sheriff’s office that she had seen a number of poisonous snakes on her property in Sebring, Florida.
So she wanted to expose her daughter to the dangers they pose.
In a video posted on Facebook - which has since been removed - Miss St Laurent puts a 14-inch non-venomous red rat snake in a container in front of her child.
The one-year-old is seen reaching for the snake, whereupon she is bitten on the right thumb and starts crying.
The 34-year-old can be heard laughing in the background, though the child did not sustain any injuries related to the bite.
Miss St Laurent told authorities that she allowed the snake to bite her first, to ensure it was not dangerous.
Asked about the laughter, she said she had been surprised when the snake struck her little girl.
Sheriff's are now investigating the incident to determine whether or not her actions break Florida’s child abuse law.
Calling the incident "harmless", Ms St Laurent told ABC Action News: "People are too sensitive. They just think that I hurt my child intentionally."
She added that the child was not hurt, and the snake’s teeth were “too small” to puncture skin.

There are other ways to teach your kid about wildlife animal dangers you *censored*ing stupid ass. Also read that she doesn't regret that she did this.

Let's see the kid was not injured it was a non venomous snake

THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE. She still willingly inflicted pain on a infant to teach him a " lesson " that he's not even old enough to understand or remember, therefore she's either a sociopath or a moron, probably a mix of both. Christ, Austin, you're the only one I know who'd defend this ingrate of a person.

But at one-year-old a baby can stand by itself and and they grabbed everything so if it remembers the pain of what it like by grabbing a snake it will know not to grab snakes

At 1 years old a baby brain is 60% developed because it's starting to understand human language

I think the mom knew what she was doing and there's nothing wrong with it it's no different than what the crocodile hunter with did with his kid

But there was no pain involve

The baby was crying. Venom or no venom, she still got bitten, and it hurt. How about you let yourself get bitten by a snake and then say " it's fine there's no pain at all "? SMH

The baby didn't get hurt the the bite didn't even break skin. The article even said the child was not, hurt the mother knew, more about she was doing then any of you

Stop with the bullshit and trying to make it seem like the mom did nothing wrong just because she has some knowledge about snakes. Like I said, there were other ways to teach her child about snakes before grabbing one and having it near the kid. She all of a sudden forgot about Zoo's and shit like that with people highly educated than her are at for her and her daughter to visit?

All I'm gonna say cause you're gonna continue to ignore the bigger picture in this whole situation.

Once again, SO? By that logic I could pinch a baby, and hold on for 10 seconds and make them bawl from the pain and laugh at their suffering, but when someone with a functioning brain ( i.e: not you ) calls me cruel for doing it, I can say " oh that's fine, I'm not breaking the skin or anything, all I'm doing is inflicting pain". Both that woman and you deserve to be slapped the shit of, for being such shameless degenarates. I'm done with you, can't afford to lose any more valuable brain cells.

She done it her son done it hell held the crocodile hunter get it with his own son with a crocodile and the mother he even said the baby only cry because of the scared of the movement of the snake not to biteing

What would going to the zoo teach them the baby was in no harm

You people are just way too soft because they think the babies and kids have always have to be wrapped in bubble wrap and get participation trophies

Hell if the baby was in danger the police would have charged her and Child Protective Services would take the child out both of them said they're not going to do any thing

There's a difference between being too soft and having the morals not to literally abuse a child. He didn't cry because of the movement of the snake, obviously the bite caused pain, you think fangs biting down on you is painless? The police SHOULD have arrested her, as what she did was infant cruelity, none of your idiotic claims disprove this. "what would going to the zoo teach them " uhhh.... to beware of snakes biting them, except without the cruelity? If you said this bullshit to my face, I'd show you how " soft" I am by knocking you the *Censored* out. I know you're just going to repeat your same nonsensical argument over and over again, but I'm telling you this because I'm not going to just listen to your idiocy.

Idiots are idiots and her mother will likely get the punishment she deserves. Perhaps dropped into a cage of 50,000 angry/hungry snakes.

And Austin, please shut up.

Seriously, there isn't ONE topic you're in where arguments don't ensue.

I legit don't know how Austin has survived to adulthood... assuming he is an adult of course. Sometimes I wonder.

But yeah, this lady, hang her up by her friggin thumbs.

I would assume that said child has been taken away from her? What's next, allowing the kid to scald themselves on hot water?

I don't even understand how any parent could allow their child to get hurt like that, it's a natural instinct to pull your child away from harm.
