The Mummy (2017)/The Dark Universe

Recommended Posts

Well I just got back from seeing The Mummy, and discovered there's another movie universe, dedicated to classic movie monsters.

I enjoyed the Mummy for what it was, and minor spoiler (even though it's in the casting credits).

It introduces Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. Who will appear in other films in the universe.

Other upcoming films include:

-Bride of Frankenstein

-Untitled Films:

Creature from the Black Lagoon

Invisible Man

Van Helsing

Wolfman

Frankenstein

Dracula

Phantom of the Opera

Hunchback of Notre-Dame

Oh these are all just going to suck lmao. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing caved in. They're calling it a Universe without establishing anything. Same thing Sony is doing with Venom thing and their supposed all females Avengers-like teamup.

They tried starting this with that Dracula film a few years ago, that didn't go well.

i actually liked Dracula Untold. im seeing The Mummy tomorrow. out of all the Universal monsters, the Creature from the Black Lagoon is my absolute favorite. i really hope they don't mess around with his look. keep the old 'Gillman' look but make him look realistic. AND NO CGI. a movie like that doesn't need it.

And Johnny Depp is in the running for the Invisible Man, was the movie good atleast?

I enjoyed it. I didn't fall asleep, which is how I usually judge a movie, lol.

And just to point out that I don't think, Dracula Untold is part of this movie universe.

Yeah, it isn't. But it was supposed to be (or rumoured anyways) until well, it got shit on.

Watched The Mummy today, it was okay. Had no idea they were doing a monster Universe, how the *Censored* is that gonna work lol.

Also had no idea that doctor was Jekyll/Hyde tf, I wasn't paying too much attention on those parts so I just assumed he was mummy-controlled

Where the hell is Swampthang on that list? Anyways, what are they trying to eventually do some sort of Avengers but with monsters?

I guess. Everybody wants to copy Marvel but Universal doesn't have any superhero properties. Monsters are the only franchises they have that they can have crossover with eachother.

Watched the Mummy last friday and we liked it. It was fast paced, fun with lots of Action and a good backstory.

Thinking that they will probably connect the movies through the Institution/company showed in the Mumie but we will see.

Yknow what monster Universal should include here?

Minions

The only line-up minions should be in is a firing squad.

how can you not like the Minions?

Easily.

The film was OK

The film started off great actually, but went downhill when Cruise meets Dr. Hyde. The scenes slowed the pace of the film overall, and a lot of it simple things you could see coming a mile away. After that the film tries to get back to where was, but it was a little too late. The twist with cruises character at the end was great
