I'm honestly okay with this. And from what I've read, it sounds like they just want to own ROH and show it on the Network, not shut it down...or absorb it, or anything like that. Certainly makes me wonder how the NJPW stuff ends up, though...

And see this is something I've wanted to happen since Summer of Punk 2011

Well the ROH/NJPW deal kinda did more for ROH than it did for them so I don't think it would be a big issue.

I guess...but, I mostly mean, how would those deals work? I'm more intrigued than anything else.

Like...if an NJPW guy has a deal that says he will work ROH shows for a certain period...does that get nixed just because ROH has a new owner? Or does that contract still stand. How exactly do the talent exchanges work? Are they literally just like "you can use this guy today"...*handshake* ...or is there actual paper involved?

I've no idea either, tbh. I'd guess the deals are pretty leniant, though.

Maybe NJPW starts a deal with PWG, since they are trying to gain a foothold on the West Coast with their first USA shows?

Yes, please.

A dude on Reddit known for scoops and insider knowledge is saying WWE has been trying to buy ROH since before Summerslam. Take that as you will.

Meltzer is finishing up an Observer that's very likely to bring out new information about this as well so I expect more news to break soon. He had said last week that a lot of things would be breaking soon, I guess this was one of them.

Interesting, I wonder if various superstars will be able to opt out of their contracts should it happen. If not, WWE might finally get their hands on the young bucks, even if just by proxy.

This is interesting because many of the guys from the Golden Era of ROH (2005-2007) are currently employed by the WWE and it would be cool to see the ROH days of Rollins, Owens, Joe, Styles, Bryan, Itami, Strong, Aires, Zayn, Cesaro and Ohno on the WWE Network. Plus people like Sara Del Rey, Jimmy Jacobs, Adam Pearce, Nigel McGuiness and Steve Corino are already in the WWE.

They buy ROH, and we'll end up getting hours upon hours of footage of those guys. Then all of a sudden future WWE DVD/Blu Ray sets of Bryan or Styles or Rollins or Owens becomes a lot more appealing.

This is possibly tied to Sinclair's seeking to purchase Tribune. With that said, selling ROH and buying Tribune doesn't make sense. If the Tribune purchase went through, part of the appeal would be to put ROH on WGN.

This move would be bad for wrestling. I can't see Vince running both NXT and ROH. If the deal does go through, don't be surprised to see ROH go the way of WCW, Pride, Strikeforce, etc.

I don't see Vince running RoH, but I can see him assigning it to someone he trusts though. It could be great competition to NXT.

Would be interesting. They already own parts of other companies or at least have working agreements with them) so I don't think they would 100% buy the entire company, maybe just like they have with a few other indy companies but I suppose we will never know. If they do wind up getting ROH though, they've got the second biggest US company in their hands
