GLOW on Netflix

Yeah, so...this randomly caught my attention.

At first, I thought it was the Women's promotion...Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling...you know...G.L.O.W. But, upon further inspection, it's an actual tv show...about that promotion(?) I don't know how to feel about that, or if it's worth a watch. But it seems like an incredibly random thing. So...I thought a topic might be in order. Does this belong in the Indy section, does it belong in entertainment? I really don't know. Feel free to move. Like I said, this is a confusing bit of entertainment to me...I don't know where the topic belongs.

Were definitely not in the darkest timeline, and we know that because Alison Brie is coming back to television with this delightful romp of a wrestling series. Behold Netflixs GLOW: Created by Jenji Cohen (Orange Is the New Black, Weeds), the ten-episode season follows a struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles (Brie) who finds one last chance for stardom when shes thrust into the glitter and spandex world of womens wrestling with a group of other Hollywood misfits. A washed-up B-movie director (Marc Maron) is also along for the ride as he attempts to lead the women on a journey to wrestling stardom. Bow down to the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling in all of their glory! GLOW starts streaming on June 23.

And does a show about wrestling actually count as a wrestling show...if it has actual wrestling? Like...a movie about wrestling is just a movie. But if there's a recurring episodic show about it...what the hell is that? Lol.

It was already announced around 1,5 years ago that they wanted to make a series out of the GLOW Wrestling Promotion that existed back then. :)

Netflix gave them a chance and so it comes to Netflix.

I personally can't wait to watch cause I'm pretty sure it will be great.

The most familiar faces for Wrestling fans in the series will be awesome kong and Alex riley that have landed a role in the series. :)

It seems that it will be as colorful as the Promotion was back then with lots of Comedy, Drama and Music.

So I came home and watched all the episodes in a row. :P

Like the series so far and I hope that they will produce more for a second season and further. :)

Added to my list, but haven't watched it yet. Probably watch at least two episodes later. It's nice to see something wrestling related get mainstream support though.

Watching now.

Cool of them to throw a memorial to Chavo Sr. into the credits of the one episode too.

Just finished. Nice quick watch.

Actually kind of refreshing to have a series with shorter episodes.

Watching the actual pilot episode of Glow (1985) on youtube now, and it's bizarre seeing Ivory so young...also had no idea that Glow actually dropped f-bombs and shit. Pretty progressive for the time.
