DWP in UK - Cancer/Terminally Ill Patients

Not someone to air out family laundry, but this needs to be made public. Saying that, I've used the "bullshit in my life" thread as an out. Communicate more on here than with most in real life!

 

Basically, my uncle has liver cancer, terminally ill. Found out in April, got given until October until the worst happens.. By the higher powers grace, he's still here today. This is a man on borrowed time, not to mention, he's worked his whole life, terminally ill, what mental anguish he's going through.. Imagine each day, could be your last? And he is getting weaker by the day..

 

But the point of this..

 

Few weeks ago, he got a letter through stating he needs to go for a fit for work review, utter shocked. My aunt contacted them, person on the phone styled it out, said it was a terrible mistake etc.. Let it go..

 

Now he has received a letter, about being put into a support work group to get him back into "the working world" and see what he's capable of doing. Otherwise, if not, will stop his money. Not only this, we found out (how true) a certain political "party" are aggressively making everyone go through this, get them off the sick etc, as a way to influence votes in the future..

 

Now this is a terminally ill man, paid his work dues, what borrowed time he has left, he needs to be spending with his family. Not to mention where he is at mentally, couldn't begin to comprehend what someone must being going through having a time limit on their life, being told you're going to be dead in October 16, March 17 still here and fighting.. But on borrowed time... But hey, he might/should be fit for work?

 

Do you know what makes it worse. Southend Hospital mucked up their procedures through neglect, didn't do the right things and if it was found earlier, could of been a higher success rate. So not only let down by the government but had his life taken from him, due to "errors". Not only that, a daughter, niece and nephews have lost chapters of their life with him, due to incompetence and now the government want to drain what little life he has left.

 

Suppose become a junkie or alchi, sorted though eh.

 

This country is a *censored*ing disgrace and makes me completely sick.

Truly sorry to hear about your uncle. I have an uncle with a similar condition. However, there is a "what BS is happening in your life thread" I feel this would be suited better there, not much we can discuss in a rant topic unfortunately.
