I have indeed. I'm also a mod on quite a busy subreddit, at least I was until about month a go.

I'm not saying they should be on the prowl SPECIFICALLY for this thing, but there are several mods who post just as much as the rest of us in several topics where we've 'outed' a previously banned member. I just expect a mod to be keeping watch for these types of comments whilst they browse at their own leisure.

The report system is in place for this specific reason though, kind of because it's impossible to see everything. Here's an analogy of this situation and yeah I know its not the same but that's why its an analogy and not a like for like comparison....

You have police officers who patrol the streets and if they spot something they'll do something about it. The report tool is kind of like when you call 999 to report a crime.

If you/any member genuinely cared about the community then you would do us a favour and report stuff so it get's dealt with in a timely manner. Not caring is fine man. Caring is not a requirement to use the site. All I say is don't pretend to care/have an opinion on how mods do their job (who btw do it voluntarily to help the community) if you're not prepared to literally do something which takes about 30 seconds, if that. Being a good mod takes a lot of dedication to the site. Reports make it a hell of a lot easier.

S'all I'm saying.

P.S. Muur is a good member to the site

I did say that I have no problem with reporting over this specific reason. Why would I have a problem with it? I just don't think it should fall down to the 'civilian' users to suss it out. Especially when we have active mods who engage with the rest of us every day, in every topic. Again, I'm not arguing the damn function of the report button, I'm not arguing that us 'civilians' shouldn't help, but if mods see about 10 of us talking about A.O.L or whoever else being a former member, it shouldn't take our reports to just check out their IP address or whatever it is mods do. Especially when the threads we are saying this stuff in are some of the most active threads on the entire board that mods DO frequent.

Just seems to me that these conversations have happened quite often and are quite hard to miss.

Especially when some mods are just as regular as us and are involved in these conversations also. There's a middle man that can be cut out there.

@Ipse; not trying to be rude, but if I want to debate this then I'm going to debate it. No amount of passive aggressive "let it go" GIFs are going to make me stop. It's a genuine conversation and if you don't like it then don't read it. Thanks.

Ah right I guess the tone of your message came across differently to me, than how you probably meant it. It just sounded like you were being critical of mods needing a report button and having to rely on casual members to report stuff rather than act upon it themselves. I was simply stating how it wasn't like that.

To be fair there's no way you would know if a mod had acted on it or not is there? Chances are if they're still roaming the site then there's nothing to talk about for now, these things aren't always resolved instantly.

not passive aggressive though

It really is though. You can just ask me/us to stop like a civilised human being. No you had to go through the effort of posting a GIF and letting that do your talking for you.

That's the very definition of passive aggression mate.

Perhaps that's why G is looking for new mods. More eyes.

That and because it always gets more active when the new game comes out.

We should get that Alternation guy who used to mod back

jks he sucked

We looked the particular member in the past and we haven't found any solid enough evidence yet. The case is still open but until the member outs himself to the point where we can confirm, we can't ban.

We all know AOL is Schizo lol

Schizo was NostalgiaGod for a year and a half before he foolishly outed himself and even won newcomer of the year or some shit. I could see AOL going a similar route, although he isn't that tactful, he can't argue particularly well without resorting to something petty. NostalgiaGod was a fine member... for a while.

I wasn't being serious with that anyway, but I do suspect him of being someone who was here previously.

Post like this make me upset. You nor anyone on this forum that isn't a moderator have NO idea what we do behind the scenes. So when someone reports something through our report system, another mod might take a crack at finding the information we need to find out if someone is a banned member or not. We are a community here, mods and members alike. Members help out mods to keep this forum as good as it can be. Your post is acting like everytime a mod comes into a topic and sees a discussion they just ignore it. It's arrogant to think that way. Besides, we have the damn report system so people don't bring up him being a banned member in every topic and disrupt it. Something YOU have a problem with.

Nah, just some sections need more attention. The mods we have now (including myself) sneak a peek in there but never fully mod it. We need some people who might brighten up the sections and work to making them better, if possible.

EDIT: Also, I do think A.O.L. is Schizo. I have no proof so I can't do anything.

I have a problem with a lot of things tbh

Maybe I'll post porn and come back in 2 years under a different name

AOL/The Nerd came here already understanding the general "attitude" of this place which usually take a new member a month or two to learn. That instantly made me think of him being someone else. He knew the 'way' several of us posted and had a certain attitude of his own to combat it. No new member has. Idk if what I'm saying makes sense.

You keep talking like that and we'll start to suspect you did that.

You know full well I'm joking. You also know full well I've only ever had one account for nearly 10 years. It was a joke man, sheesh.
