First off, don't friggin generalize, it makes you look petty. Plenty of us didn't like THQ and the way they coasted by, but loved the hell out of 2K15 and are quite happy with 2K in general. I can't believe that you people keep talking about games that have been created more than 10 years ago.. It'll probably be better than them and i was talking about at least the last 10 years ofcourse.. None of you is going to play day of reckoning or RAW 2 or Shut your mouth or SVR 2004 or WRESTLEMANIA 21 or FIRE PRO WRESTLING RETURNS while he got a game like 2K16 and the others.. LOL... And that's physical, you can't prefer this old crap than the new ones ... and im not like uhhh a 10 years old kid that just learned about video games, I'm 20.. The first game i even played was shut your mouth when it got released.. then i bought older games and year by year almost every newer WWE game.... I use to play the old games too just to remember the old days but i still prefer the new ones because it's all about generation.. The old ones were awesome for their years, not for now guys.. It's not like GTA(Nowadays you'll find many guys that prefer GTA SA and GTA IV than GTA V.. including me) .

 

By the way, i believe that the greatest wrestling game was SVR 2007 until 2010

If 2K16 ends up being really good then yeah maybe I won't play Firepro that much, but to this day Firepro is really the GOAT considering I still play it as much as the current games and it's 10 years old now technically.

Anyways, don't see much point to this topic when the game hasn't been released yet. But imo, I feel 2K will continue making each game better than the last, well, at least for the next few years. With that said though, this years game is looking rather promising and a lot better than WWE2K15.

I'm more interested in 2k17 tbh because of Charlotte, Sasha, Becky and Bayley hopefully. A possible What if WCW/ECW Invasion storyline.

 

The possibility of Kurt Angle making it in if he signs a Legends deal during his break away from professional wrestling early next year and many improvements moving forward.

 

If all of this happens I'd call that the greatest game of all time.

People hold the older games in high regard, because they were better. They didn't have terrible glitches, or horribly limited movesets, or idiotic omissions of game modes. They were solid all around and most importantly they were FUN.

 

Almost every wrestling game in the past decade has been a bug-riddled mess, that didn't really know what it was trying to be. The games were too unrealistic to be simulations, and too slow to be arcades. They've lacked proper story modes. SvR 2008 had stupid moveset restrictions that made the game agonizingly frustrating. SvR 2010 was horrible in terms of making CAWs, because you had to boost attributes separately for every single CAW. SvR 2011 removed hundreds of moves. WWE '13 made it near impossible to get two-counts, thus eliminating drama. These are just selected examples.

 

Each one of these newer games have had one or more HUGE drawbacks. The older games didn't have that. They had interesting story modes, expansive move lists and exciting gameplay. That is why dismissing every wrestling game before 2004 is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard a wrestling game fan say. Ever.

When have people complained about the roster? The main thing they complained about were pre-order bonus and no Horsewomen. Otherwise people are ejaculating over the huge roster. But yeah, never good to count your chickens before they hatch. I'm sure this will not be as good as people assume or hope, especially with the high expectations. Of course, I'm thinking about previous generation as I don't have a new generation console yet.

Strange post - ultimately it comes down to opinion like everything. No Mercy is perfectly playable today because even now it still plays better in some ways than the WWE 2K series. I could quite happily play Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 right now. That game was SO good. I don't think it's fair to say that people "can't" like older games because No Mercy still has a decent following. No one's going to go back and play the older SmackDown games, and hell no one played RAW 2 or WrestleMania 21 when they came out anyway, but I think your complete dismissal of older wrestling games is a bit odd.

 

OP sounds like one of those people who feels that newer always equals better. Personally I agree with people saying that the older games were better. I'd still take Day of Reckoning 2 over any of the SvR or WWE2K games. If you look at the current games, they borrow a lot from those older games. The paint tool feature that "debuted" in SvR10(?) existed in DOR2. And that new "rest hold" submission system in WWE2K15? Yepp, that was in a game 10 YEARS AGO. It's always baffled me why they do things like this.

 

I'm by no means writing off WWE2K16 before it comes out, but I'm not hopping on the hype train because most of the opinions we've heard on the game so far are the people who make money on it's sales.

You're wrong on that one. I'd rather play Fire Pro Wrestling Returns than any WWE game ever, and that probably will include WWE 2K16.

 

When the WWE games include in-depth custom AI Logic, then you can talk about "the greatest wrestling game of all times [sic]." Until then, it's just presentation with little substance.

The fact that there are already people willing to give 2k16 a a crown, despite the game not even being released yet, is absurd. We haven't even seen unedited footage of a full match played yet. I will say this in the game's favor: so far it looks like 2k16 might be decent. That's a lot more than I could say about 2k15 around this time last year.
