No Man’s Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe.
A TRULY OPEN UNIVERSE
Whether a distant mountain or a planet hanging low on the horizon, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.
Where you’ll go and how fast you’ll make your way through this universe is up to you. It’s yours for the taking.

EXPLORATION IS SEEING THINGS NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE
Explore uncharted solar systems and catalogue unique new forms of life. Every planet’s landscape is different from the next, and populated by species never before encountered.
Find ancient artefacts that could reveal the secrets behind the universe.
Choose whether to share your discoveries with other players. They’re exploring the same vast universe in parallel; perhaps you’ll make your mark on their worlds as well as your own.

SURVIVE ON A DANGEROUS FRONTIER
Every solar system, planet, ocean and cave is filled with danger, and you are vulnerable.
Your ship and suit are fragile, and every encounter can test your skills to the limit. From dogfighting in space to firstperson combat on a planet’s surface, you will face foes ready to overwhelm you.
And one mistake could see you lose everything. In No Man’s Sky, every victory and every defeat has lasting consequences.

BUILD FOR AN EPIC JOURNEY
Whether you want to explore and see things never before discovered, or directly set course for the centre of the galaxy, how you play No Man’s Sky is up to you.
But you cannot take your voyage lightly. You’ll need to prepare.
Collect precious resources on the surfaces of planets and trade them for the ships, suits and equipment that will take you to your destiny in the stars.
One thing that excites me is if you wanted to spend just one second on every planet in the game, it would take you 5 billion years.

Yeah that's my only worry. They're bigging it up to be something very special and I hope it delivers.

The thought of discovering a planet that may never be explored by any other player is staggering.

WTF? so pretty much an endless game...? Unless a lot planets are just a copy paste job with slight changes.

The planets must be randomly generated when a player stumbles across them. I hope there's enough variation to experience something new every time or at least most of the time. It looks like it'll tell you if a planet you find has already been discovered and who discovered it It sounds highly unlikely that you'll meet your friends in the game and the closest player to you could be millions of light years away so it'd probably be a special moment if you meet another player. Until they try to kill you anyway :XD:

Seems awesome but also innovative enough to flop hard, like Brink. I'll give it a shot for sure though!

I actually enjoyed Brink.

I was blown away when I first saw the trailer for No Man's Sky at E3. I'm surprised it took this long for someone to make a topic about it.

All the stars you see in the sky, you can travel to every single one of them.

It'd be good if you could name uncharted planets you find. I'd try to think of good names but you'd soon find one called Planet Sticky Dick or something.

On the topic of repetition, I don't think it'll be a problem. I found out that it'd take 4000 to 5000 years to find anything repetitive so maybe the third coming of Christ may find a similar planet to one you explored.

This game blows my mind. Developers of open world games say "See that mountain off in the distance? You can actually climb to the top of it,"

In No Man's Sky, see all of those stars in the Universe? They are all Suns with their own solar systems that contain planet-sized planets with their own moons and you can explore the life and ecology of any one of them.

Here's a hand full of videos from IGN with tons of info.

Found out No Man's Sky's universe won't be infinite but there will be 18 quintillion (18,000,000,000,000,000,000) planets to explore.

Hello Games were asked if there would be black holes and natural disasters in game. They said natural disasters will play a part but black holes aren't a certainty.

They say it's highly unlikely you'll ever stumble across a planet that somebody else has already discovered.

I'm intrigued at what's going to be at the centre of the universe. They said it's gonna be a sort of ending for people that need closure in their games.

Well since they claim that the universe is infinite in the game, There is really no centre.

I wonder if they will have Earth? Or something close to it atleast with proper human life form and civilization. I would love to visit planets occasionally and find Humans/Aliens and a fully working life system like Earth's.

Not seen a lot about this game since announcement, but after seeing some gameplay vids I'm proper excited about this.

Interesting question for ya'll: what will you name your first planet / creature? If I happen across a developed planet, I'm thinking Mallen Prime, after myself. For the looks of things the creatures will be mostly reptilian so it'll be a planet full of dragons!
