A few days back, we reported on the news coming out of San Diego Comic-Con that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell were making an Evil Dead TV series.

An extra detail has now been added to this awesome news, which is that Campbell himself will be the star of the show. Assumedly as Ash Williams from the Raimi-directed Evil Dead films (as the sketch Campbell tweeted below is of the character).

From the twitter exchange here, you can see Campbell responding to a fan, letting him know what the big plan is...

(see twitter posts in link)

The last time fans saw Campbell act in any official Evil Dead capacity, it was for a few seconds right at the end of the credits for the 2013 remake, where his Ash character could be seen saying "Groovy." At the time it wasn't known if the scene was just a fun nod to fans or if it indicated that the new Evil Dead storyline started in the movie would somehow intersect with Ash's story down the line.

As long as the show is not censored to hell and uses mostly practical effects, then I'm on board with this.

They could always put it on FX as shows tend to get away with a lot over there in terms of horror.

Something I really enjoy about this series, is that it feels like it was directed as a new movie, not as a tv show. There are great shows out there that have the production value of movies...Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, etc. But this show really has the continuity of a film. When all is said and done...when the series concludes with the final episode, I bet there will either be a DVD that puts all the episodes together as one, or a fan somewhere will do it...because it was made to be viewed that way, IMO.
