Wow. I had constant freezing issues in Universe Mode back on the PS3 version of '13. It'd freeze when editing matches, it'd freeze when trying to load cut scenes post-match, and so on. It was awful. Chased me out of the mode entirely when I couldn't find any workable solution for the problems.

 

I've bought 2K14 at the PSN store, so I'm not playing off a disc. I've got two brands in Universe, WWF and WCW, both of them with around 40 wrestlers each, and the majority of both rosters is custom content. I also use custom logos and custom rings for every show. I can honestly say that, despite my heavy match editing that occurs for nearly every show, I have not experienced a single freeze.

 

Last year, the problem seemed to be mostly on the PS3 side. I wonder if the opposite is true this year? I also wonder if having the game directly installed to my PS3's hard drive has made any difference at all....

I don't have the game installed on the PS3 and no problems. I only had one time where I was kicked off of PSN CC because I was trying to download a modded CAW. Other than that, no problems at all.

 

I really think there is a problem with the 360 elites where all these problems are hitting that one line of 360s. And since the One is out, I doubt much in the way of firmware updated is going to happen.

I just noticed that, even though it's freezing, it's actually saving long enough to save the changes on the shows. I haven't tried playing the shows yet, maybe they freeze too but you can just make the show, let it freeze, restart your Xbox and do the next show. In theory.

So, for me, if I turn auto save off, I can edit the card fine. Every time it asks you to save... say no and then continue without saving... at the very end, when you are ready to quit save it. The freeze for me, and a couple other people I have talked to only happens if the game saves once... then after that it will freeze... so, stop it from saving and you can edit cards freely. Try it and let me know if it works for you... btw... THIS is why we come to forums... to see if WE can figure out a solution that 2k can't. We usually do and then THQ/2k will announce it as THEIR official work around lol... watch and see.

Unless we band together and work to find a solution ourselves, than those of us with problems will never find fixes. I don't understand why some people here object to people coming together and helping each other. They don't seem to have a problem with people creating a million threads about the same exact topic or just to bitch and nitpick the game, but god forbid if someone actually needs help.

 

And since this seems to be a problem with the game working on our elite consoles, bestbuy is doing a thing this week where they give 100$ credit for 360, then on black friday the slim is on sale for 150$. That might end up being a viable option.

This seems to be an issue of the software not being optimized for the elite memory so far. Because, you only get the can't edit match card freeze after it saves the game one time after booting up. If you turn auto save off, you can edit a card freely... at least it has worked so far with me and the few people I know that has tried it.

Let me know if it works for you. You have to turn auto save off before your game has saved again. If you save after turning auto save off, reboot the game again. Once you save once, you will get the freeze.

 

As far as 2k support, yeah it is terrible. I just looked at their twitter and it is like 80% people saying they submitted a ticket days ago and haven't heard back and 20% them telling people to submit a ticket... which will then be ignored for days. Apparently, NBA 2k on next gen has a shit load of bugs too... so there is quite the line at 2k support between this game and that game.

You are the man caveman! The auto save thing worked for me as well! Oddly it seemed to fix the random attire setting always selecting the 2nd attire as well. Now the only issue I have left is custom titles with paint tools causing matches to get stuck on an infinite loading screen. I'm not sure there will be a work around that one though. Why did noone look into this before buying the game? I'm not attacking anyone, but just thinking, with the history of the series, the first thing I did was ask about changes and fixes. As for another comment in this thread, there would be fewer thread about issues if there was a pinned bugs issues/solutions thread. On the other hand, I would guess that most people don't want player submitted fixes like deleting saves or all that other stuff. They want to dl an update and for it to be fixed, just like with any other technology. If there was a way to push out fixes over the internet, I think that would save you guys some headaches.

I can't speak for others but I've bought the game every previous year and I have never had a serious freezing problem outside of story designer or the random hang up that happens in any sports game these days. Plus I am not sure who you expect us to ask? I really don't think 2k are gonna go around informing customers the day before it releases that their brand new game has massive freezing issues for anyone with an elite. Plus those people with jtags had no issues with the pal version that dropped a week before retail release, no review sites had freezing issues, no one who got the game early complained of it either, so I bought the game day one expecting it to work just as well as the one that I had already been playing flawlessly for days. As far as the glitch fix thread, I have stated many times to the bratty, unhelpful, less mature contingent of this forum, none of the player submitted fixes corrected the problems specific to the elite. If they did, people like me and Caveman wouldn't be searching for solutions. No offense, but if I can figure out how to jtag my 360, extract and inject pac files, use mod tools and build elaborate trackers, what makes some of you think that I couldn't figure out basic search functions on a relatively obscure and tiny forum like caws? Plus even if I didn't want to sift through pages of glitches to find an answer, what harm does a thread like this cause? No one is putting a gun to your head making you click the thread. It's not like this site gets so many posts in a day that the good stuff gets buried. Its just seems like some of you are allergic to helping people. I mean dude even got attacked by a few posters for giving us a guide on improving universe booking.

Definitely doesn't happen to everyone. I think if you have a fat elite 360, your chances increase. I think if you have a lot of caws your chances increase (I have about 75). I think if you use other custom content in universe (belts, arenas, paintools) your chances increase. Other than that, its probably just dumb luck

So, mine still does that if I have accidentally saved before going into universe. If you save even one time from the time you booted up the game, you will get the freeze. If you have downloaded a caw, changed a moveset etc., that will make you save and thus make you freeze. If you turn off autosave, save your game, completely turn off your xbox, boot up the game, go directly into universe and customize your card, play matches and then every time it asks do you want to save say no, then when it ask if you want to continue without saving say yes, you might not get the freezing. For me it freezes every time I save even once. If you do that and still get the freeze I am sorry. I know it is frustrating. Btw I submitted my claim to 2k on tuesday... it is now saturday and it still says waiting to be assigned to a rep... LOL at 2k

I've been working with it for a while and I found that if you have too many CAWs that the universer will freeze. I have 34 CAWs now and if I get one more the game will freeze whe I edit matches in universe. I'm not sure if other creative content make a difference or not. I'm going to delete one of my arenas and then add a CAW to see if its just CAW realated or if there is a limit on how much creative contenet we can have overall before it freezes. Play around with this youself if you want. I will post again after I test this out some more.

My .02. WHile you may not have experienced them, their have been major glitches in the last 2 releases of WWE games, see: http://www.examiner.com/article/huge-list-of-bugs-and-glitches-revealed-for-wwe-13 This site is quoted for the glitches. I don't expect 2K to tell us about glitches, but if a large percentage of gamers started waiting for stories like that to pop up online before deciding whether it was worth it to buy the game, they would have more incintive to fix glitches the next year before release, and they would fix the current year's glitches quickly, before it cut into the sales figures for the year. The way it is now, they will drag ass this year, and not really concern themselves with it before release next year because they know legions of fans will buy the game out of loyalty and a few new features.

 

I don't have any issue with this thread. I searched for something like it, most of the threads dont mention an issue in the title, meaning no one is going to read an unrelated thread, which is why I propose a single bug/glitch thread, pinned and easily visable to guests and members.

Its a combination of how many, Caws, logos, and arenas you have. Right now I have 35 Caws, 16 logos, and 45 arenas. Logos seem to carry more weight than the other two. From where I am I can add 2 more caws or arenas or 1 of each before it will freeze during universe. If I add one more logo it will freeze. So if you don't want to save manually you can keep an inventory of your created items and keep yourself under the cap as an alternative to stop it from freezing during universe. You can use my numbers as ballpark figures to give you an idea of how much of each item you can have before you're in freezing range. I don't want to disable auto save so it works for me. Hope this helps some people.

Caws (outside of the gender modded Chyna) never caused my freezes. I think it is the other way around, I think logos, created belts and created arenas are the culprit more-so. Since doing Caveman's autosave trick I haven't had a single freeze and I'm sitting on 76 saved caws, half in use. I did, however still suffer the endless load screen when using custom belts so I've since delete all my custom logos and belts and reverted back to using in-game rings and two shows rather than five. I think this year you just have to limit your ambitions and the scope of what you want your universe to be. No more doing wwf, wcw and ecw, or wwe, tna and roh all in the same single universe save. It is a good thing I have a pile of usb sticks lying around.

Just to warn you, on top of that, damage retention doesn't work when you do King Of The Ring In Universe either.
