.Sy™
Probably a bit late for a topic like this, but this promo came to mind once again, when Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE last month. I was thinking about the statements Punk said, and how much actually became part of WWE's product: 1. "I'm the Best. I'm the Best in the World" -> Punk feuds against a returning Chris Jericho (at first for the BITW-title) and now Bryan Danielson 2. "You know who else is a Paul-Heyman-guy? Brock Lesnar" -> Lesnar returns 3. "Maybe I'll go defend it in New Japan Pro Wrestling" -> Giant Bernard returns as Lord Tensai 4. "Maybe I'll go back to Ring of Honor" -> Kings of Wrestling get signed 5. "[...] it's because he surrounds himself with glad-handing nonsensical douchebag yes-men, like John Laurinaitis" -> Big Johnny makes his on-screen debut 6. "[...] it's gonna get taken over by his idiotic daughter and his doofus son-in-law [...]. -> Triple H becomes COO; Stephanie McMahon appeared a few times last summer. I believe the only statements that haven't come to fruition are the re-signings of Paul Heyman (although apparently he's the one not having any interest) and Colt Cabana. I think those will eventually happen as well. Do you think the WWE had all/most of this planned or do you think Punk indeed held an impromptu promo (with a few notes on his wrist like he said)? вlueprint⁴
nah I think it's all just a coincidence and maybe WWE decided to feed off his worked shoot and tried to bring some of what he said to life after the fact... which worked obviously if so.. Mango kid
coincidence nothing more honesty i doubt they ever hire colt or haymen back
Retro
huh. here I still wasn't sure if it was a worked shoot, or them saying "go out there and say why you're leaving" and it got out of hand but couldn't/didn't turn the mic off for whatever reason. I'd like for colt to come back to wwe, but I don't see it happening if I'm honest. wwe humour is completely different to colt's. and I don't think they'll appreciate him. St★rstruck
Most of what CM Punk said in the shoot promo last year actually happened by coincidence. But when Brock Lesnar did return, CM Punk's shoot promo was one of the first things I thought about when it happened. "...you're even more of an ass-kisser than Hulk Hogan was." I don't think we'll see Hulk Hogan in WWE anytime soon...mabye.
Scorpion™
CM Punk's shoots were just coincidence. But I think they impacted a change and it's for the better.
Dazman™
Na I think it was coincidence. Brock didn't have any contact with WWE until a couple of days before WrestleMania. Lord Tensai and The Kings Of Wrestling didn't sign until sometime after either. The only two that could have been planned at the time were Johnny Ace becoming an on screen personality and Triple H becoming the COO.
elgato
and after seeing how the Lesnar/Cena feud ended and how both of them are now continuing their own seperate paths, I think its safe to say that the impact of that shoot is basically gone now and were all back to PG... I really enjoyed the summer of Punk - Extreme Rules starting with the Raw after Extreme Rules I felt reminded of the worst PG days...
OPC
To bad none of those Hi Colt Cabanas didn't lead to another signing being made. Not yet anyway

Oliber.
I say, as everyone said, coincidence. But I'll admit, Punk's shoot was the beginning of many good things in the PG era.

D-Henry
Colt is the only person left to get signed from the promo. The WWE audience would love his in ring antics. Especially his Chikara stuff.

Also, Heyman is doing alternate commentary on Punk's upcoming DVD. Not a signing, but he's doing some work with the company.
