I really hate it when The Rock...

Cena Hateh'

Recommended Posts

Now you guys know that I'm siding with Rocky on his current feud with Cena and all... but there's one thing I really hate when he does:

His pomos back in the days were Electrifying: he spoke in 3rd person, used a lot of catchphrases, edgy humor...he didn't give his opponent to open their mouth! he's run them down with the "Do you think?" thing, and feel untouchable on the mic thanks to that..

now that he's back, his first 2-3 appearances were similar to that. had the same formula.. same old rocky, but a bit lacking as he wasn't there for a long time. Still, I loved it!

But now...last night's raw..and a raw before..etc. they all seem so...bland. Generic. As if Rock's just a generic superstar, who has the crowd in the palm of his hand who chant him regardless of how slappy he gets on the mic. I really hate the fact that he didn't even say "FINALLY THE ROCK HAS COME BACK.." or use any of his catchphrases, let alone speak in 3rd person. He really sounds like Dwayne instead of Rocky... :/

Was he just unprepared? SEMI-SPOILER: Cena did say something about Rock writing what to say on his wrist... but this happened before too...soo what do you think?

I agree, I however felt he was trying to put on a serious promo without his comical catchphrases?

When John Cena came out and pointed at thr writing on The Rock's wrist, The Rock seemed genuinely angry and out of place. I heard he is going to appear next week, if he does, I have a feeling things are going to changes after last nights performance. Just my 2 cents.

Not sure if this is actually true or not but either cole or king said on raw last night that the rock never performed in portland oregon before tonight so that's probably why he didn't use the "finally the rock has come back" line but I do find it kinda hard to believe that he was never there after all his years in wwe. I definitely laughed my ass off when he called cena a kung pow bitch though.

I believe he was trying to do a worked shoot, so obviously you wouldn't get a complete typical Promo from The Rock. Personally I didn't have a problem with it, as it's good The Rock is changing things up a little, because back in the day fans actually started to become tired of all his same catchphrases, and repetitive promos.

The man has to memorize lines for movies. I doubt he has any problems memorizing anything, the only reason those notes were on his wrist were to help Cena insult him. Otherwise, he would have looked like a complete idiot.

HellHammer makes a good point (that I also agree with) in that Rocko wasn't all fun and games on a count of wanting to give the promo's words a legit feel. Plus, we're close to 'Mania, so it's only fitting that he'd take on a more serious tone so as to highlight the animosity between himself and Cena.

The Rock couldn't use "Finally..." because Troll or King pointed out that he hadn't been to Portland, Oregon before.

I've been thinking about this a lot, and first of all-- this truly is the Reality Era. There's been a lot thing that have made me react like 'Holy shit, I can't tell whether this is a work or a story line'. Regarding this matter, I've come to this conclusion:

The whole wrist thing was a work. I mean, surely The Rock knows that the camera would have caught it, he's not an idiot. He's an actor, he knows how they work. Adding the fact that as an actor his job is to learn lines, that's what he does.

The Rock has been cutting promos for YEARS, he could cut one fresh from waking up. For him to all of a sudden need to depend on notes? I'm not buying it. I'm beginning to believe that they're playing off this whole him not being there thing, think about it. Cena all of a sudden came out SPECIFICALLY to point out his wrist, c'mon. This is how story lines work; The Rock owns Cena, Cena come back and owns him (...kinda).

The Rock's a crowd favorite in general, add the fact that match will be held in Miami, Florida (his hometown), add the fact that it's at The Grandest Stage of Them All, WresteMania. In other words, the boos he received at One Night Stand + Money in the Bank COMBINED will be nothing compared to what we'll witness.

The Rock knows this, Cena will need to round up all of the troops (preferably Froot Loop) that he can before WrestleMania.

This pretty much sums it up.

*Edit* He mentioned that he lived there as a kid once Raw went off the air. Then he said finally.

The Rock is skilled at making fun of people, not insulting them. He doesn't really fit into the "Reality Era" at least from what I've seen since he returned.

At least he isn't good at insulting people right now. I guess it's because he doesn't have that passion in him anymore. Why would he need to? He gets loud pops from the crowd when he returns, because he reminds them how good both he and the WWE used to be back in the day.

Let him just go back to the occasional appearances after he is gone after Wrestlemania. I certainly don't care to see him back if he shows as much commitment as he has done now.

Why are people saying the rock can't shoot on people? He can its just in his character to be kayfabe remember this promo

that was a jab at austin for taking his ball and leaving, wwe is trying to make it seem like cena is capable of going head to head with the rock on the mic because cena really doesnt have anything else to say against the rock once his i'm all here rant was debunked by the rock at the start of the promo from last night.

The Rock is supposed to appear bland. That was the whole point of that segment last night. The fans are supposed to be unsure of whether Cena is going to face The Rock or Dwayne Johnson at WrestleMania. The Rock is a worthy opponent, Dwayne is not. The Rock is a face, and Dwayne is a heel. Notice how Cena keeps referring to The Rock as Dwayne and how The Rock argued that they're the same people last night (obviously kayfabe-wise, they're completely different. Its like a split personality). Also, if you noticed after Cena left, The Rock instantly transitioned from the boring, mild mannered B movie actor to the electrifying, fast talking wrestling persona. Its not like The Rock really forgot his lines or anything. They were trying to make it appear like there is two sides to his character. Its very clever.

Interesting perspective, very clever indeed.

I think you are correct here. After re-watching it when Cena left he did in fact change to The Rock persona. IMO

its all a work, all those yrs of promos the rock now needs notes? Clearly for SuperCena to have the upper-hand. WWE trying really hard for that 50/50 split at Wrestlemania. Also Dwayne Johnson needs the Rock personality back ASAP because that promo was horrible and stop with the twitter references, WWE as whole please!
