Arkham Asylum was absolutely excellent. I held it just a little behind Uncharted 2 for Game of the Year contention. The thing is though, it was amazing for such unique design ideas and when your foundation is built on great level design as the game progresses, it's harder to follow that up than anything. BioShock was a good example of this. BioShock 2's gameplay was much better than that in the first but the level design, atmosphere, and unique experience of the world was not there, and the overall feeling could not be replicated. I think this sequel should be great, but I'm not sure if it will be equal to or better than the first. We'll see though, not a hint of gameplay has been shown so far so we don't even know what kind of changes there could be.

Awesome. Now I pray that the game features some sort of multiplayer mode with Robin and or Nightwing. I'd be more than satisfied with a challenge mode for each of them, but I doubt they'll be included at all. The name isn't that important to me, though I don't think it's unoriginal. No more unoriginal than Arkham Asylum anyway. Definitely a must buy.

John DiMagio did an excellent job in Under The Red Hood, so at least now there's someone good to take Hamill's place. Kevin Michael Richardson is decent, but nowhere near as good as DiMagio.

John DiMagio did an excellent job in Under The Red Hood, so at least now there's someone good to take Hamill's place. Kevin Michael Richardson is decent, but nowhere near as good as DiMagio.

I'm sure you aren't the only one, but Arkham Asylum was incredibly impressive. I don't see how it was "hugely overrated" if it got a 9.3 from IGN, did a 92 metascore, and you think it deserves an 8.5. Is that .7 increase in it's overall reception really [i]that[/i] big of a deal?

Point is, it should have got ratings in the 8s, making it a good game, but not an outstanding game.

What are some flaws that make you feel it's undeserving of a 9+ score?

My only complaint is that Detective Mode was far too powerful. Because of how useful it was, I remained in it throughout most of the game, which really took away from the game's beautiful environment. It was annoying going through the game with my screen tinted blue the entire time, but because of Detective Mode's usefulness, I felt obligated to remain in it. The only time I ever turned it off was when I was in combat, or was in an area I had already fully explored.

But that's a matter of opinion, so I can't really say it's an actual flaw.

The only thing that really confuses me about Hitman Mania's stance on Batman: Arkham Asylum...is that the game is running on so many concepts of a game Hitman Mania enjoys, Assassin's Creed. Many elements it has, it does better. Eagle Vision/Detective Mode are very similar, though Eagle Vision's pacing and not having to remain in it gives it an edge. They both have free flowing combat but Batman's was much better and enjoyable, and both have a certain degree of freedom in having to take out enemies. Though again I'd give the edge to Arkham Asylum because the level of freedom, the things you can do and the gadgets you have were amazing. Batman: Arkham Asylum is clearly influenced by Assassin's Creed and has a lot of the same flavor with it's own unique twists and style. How can you not see it as greatness?

Actually, I have to say I never finished the first game. Not because it was a bad game but I think I bought another game before completing it (or maybe even two as I seem to recall I bought Dragon Age and Assassins Creed 2 around the same time) and then I just couldnt get back into it again.

Needless to say I will be keeping an eye on this.
