Texture without a texture.
1. Filters> Renders >Clouds> Plasma.
2. Desaturate
3. Sharpen by a alot 80-90
4. Set to soft light, lower the opacity

Easy way to define your focal.
1. B&W radial Gradient on soft light.
2. Apply Image, Unsharp Mask it on Darken.
3. Duplicate the Radial Gradient.

Not that great, so sue me, if it doesn't help at least one person >:]

paste your stock, go to adjustments>threshold, and find a nice level
then fill in your canvas with a gradient fill and set it to lighten
then just either brush or erase with some splatter brushes

lol got it from jufu with a bit of my touch ups

Extreme colorful-ish-ness/Leaving no black in the tag, thus creating an orgy of color.

Example:

Use a large soft brush (about 200 px.) and brush different colors all over canvas. Set to Lighten. Adjust Brightness and contrast until you find a good balance.

Basic smudge technique.
http://i46.tinypic.com/sgrf39.png

1. Brush with a hard brush a random color. Set spacing to 1 rate to 80. Smudge in zig-zags or w/e tickles your fancy.
2. Brush another color, get a small hard brush, smudge it spacing at 1, rate at 100.
3. Duplicate the second smudge, and Gaussian Blur it.

Also, a very easy way to get effect stocks, colorful stuff, etc. Just screen the visuals on WMP.

Set on dodge mostly works best. But what ever floats your boat. Sometimes, if used right, in rare cases, it can be passed off as smudge too. *cough**cough*

If anyone does lighting with the soft brush technique, i would recommend starting to use the render lighting effects filter.

Using both can be even better.

Very quick handy tip to bring out small details and make the whole design "pop"

Take your image when it is complete then create a new layer, apply image

Filter/Other/Highpass

Set this to 10.0

Then set to soft light overlay or hard light depending on your desired effect

reduce opacity if necessary and erase any unnecessary parts.

Voilà
