Just an update on the site errors. Since we upgraded to the new version of the Invision Board software we have been hit by some weird errors, most commonly redirecting you to the CAWs.ws home page.

So far, we have not had too much luck in sorting it out as the problem has been extremely difficult to detect.

I have escalated the problem to Invision but they are not being very helpful at the moment, which is not normally like them and it is making my job harder to try and fix it.

I have tried several things, which in some cases, we made the problem worse, so I apologise for the various downtime over the last couple of days while I tried things out.

Anyway, I have not forgotten, I am on the problem for several hours a day trying different things so please bear with me.

I started this thread yesterday in order to try and track times and dates this is happening so I can look in the server logs. If you can still report there that would be great.

A few members have noticed recently that there has been a decline in Admin activity which lead to some mods not being able to do anything and site errors going unfixed. I apologise for this and I have taken steps to address all the issues.

I want to announce that with immediate effect, I am stepping down as the lead administrator of the forum because I can no longer devote all my time to it. The forums are massive and when I originally opened them around 5-6 years ago I never imagined it could become a full time job to just run them. I don't want the forums to feel unloved and neglected so this is for the best and is not a decision I have taken lightly.

I want to make clear however I am not leaving, I just cant be on hand to deal with minor issues in the grand scheme of things. I am still going to maintain the website, adding CAWs (hopefully a lot quicker now I don't have the forum to worry about) and I'll be on hand to support the staff here should errors and stuff crop up.

ThreeG, who's been an admin here for 4 years will be taking over control of the forum. I feel that he is suitably qualified for the job and he knows this forum like the back of his hand. He will be in charge, his decisions are final, just like mine once used to be. Please help him into his new role by respecting his decisions, even if they are unpopular.

I appeal to all members to no longer PM me with issues like warnings, bans, reports, e.t.c as I am no longer dealing with them. I can not reply to any I've had this year, or will get in the future due to the sheer number I get. So if an issue is outstanding, the best thing to do is think... Can a moderator deal with it? If so make a thread on the forum. If it's an admin only issue, PM ThreeG or email him at threeg@caws.ws.

The old support address forum@caws.ws will no longer be answered. The new address is threeg@caws.ws or you can PM him directly.

On a final note, I know some members have been concerned since they found out CAWs.ws was listed for sale, it was just something I did a long time ago. It would only ever be sold under the right conditions, but it never was and I never bothered to remove or update the ad, as I explained a few months ago. As you've no doubt noticed our new website is now online! Due to the large size of the forum database that needed to be upgraded, and also due to linking it with ICW, the forum has been offline for most of the day. We are now back online though and ICW will be online shortly as well. Apologies for the disruption in service.

Issues to be aware of

You may notice that pre-existing personal messages are not being sorted in date order. We do not currently know the cause of this issue but are looking into it. Hopefully it will be fixed over the next few days, however be rest assured that any NEW messages you receive from now on will be displayed in the correct order.

You may also notice weirdness in pre-existing posts such as certain tags not working correctly, this is because we are currently rebuilding the posts database, this operation will complete tomorrow, after which time if there are remaining issues please report them.

Site & Forum Skin

We hope you like the new look, we went for something similar to the old in terms of colours but simplified in many ways rather than making it more flashy, in order to make it much faster to load and much easier to use due to less screen space being taken by things like large headers. The forum skin and ICW skin are currently still in development so there will be more changes & customisations to them being rolled out over time. We hope you enjoy the new features and fresh interface that IPB3 provides.

SmackDown vs RAW 2010

The new SVR2010 forums are now up, as is the section on the website and we are accepting submissions. Currently the archive works almost exactly like the SVR2009 archive, however I'm planning to roll out some small changes and enhancements over the coming days and weeks.

Feedback

Your feedback is welcomed as always, but please bear in mind that we are only part-way through the launch at the moment and there will be more changes to come! Also due to large numbers of suggestions & comments we receive we may not be able to reply to them all individually.

If you have any problems in addition to the ones I've already mentioned please let me know. If you need help using the new forums please post on the help forum where either myself or others will help you.

For those interested in our plans on advertising, please note we are part way through reviewing ad placements on the site, some pages have been updated with new ad placements and others will be reviewed soon. As always we will endeavour to make them as unobtrusive as possible whilst still being effective in raising the money we need to run our servers.

Don't like the sidebar?
If you don't like the right-hand sidebar on the front page, for those who've not noticed, there is a little X icon at the top of it. If you click that it will disappear and the forum will take full width ;) You can restore it again by clicking the little arrow at the right of the screen.
